Hello everyone. Nice to be here. I've been scanning the forum for days now, I figured it was time to make an introductory post as advised.

I had 3 Ford trucks before. A 2002 Ranger XLT 4x4, a 2006 F-150 XLT 4x4, and another F-150 FX4 before I moved to Germany and ordered a 2011 VW GTI. Had to sell the GTI after a couple years when I moved to Singapore because Singapore does not allow imported cars. Now that I'm moving back to the US, it was time to shop for a new truck.

What brought me to a Tacoma was simply because I miss driving the stick in my VW, and let's face it, manuals are a dying breed in America. I've known about the reliability behind Toyotas (and Hondas) since the 80's, so I figured a Tacoma would be a safe and exciting choice, especially one that allowed me to row my own gears. Given current trends, it's likely that Toyota may dump the manual altogether soon, as you can already see in the limited choices in the 2016 Tacos with that "option". So I may have this truck for the next 20 years, if not longer.

I ordered a DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 with the Tech Package and M/T in Inferno this past week for $300 over invoice, and promptly found this site and joined up. I'm not sure what kind of "mods" I'll do, but I already want to darken the mesh around the grill when I get it, and possibly either dip the tailgate bottom in black as I've seen some do, or just fill in the letters in black vinyl. We'll see. Cheers!!!

Thanks to all of you for the welcome!

Hopefully I can not only gain some useful insight from some seasoned Taco owners, but can also make a few useful contributions here and there to the forum.

The truck has arrived. Dealer sent me this pic this morning. I might be able to pick it up tomorrow. I can't wait!

Welcome. Nice truck and good choice on color.

How'd you get stationed in Singapore? Lucky. I would've killed to get stationed over there. haha.

I actually hated living in Singapore. I was stationed in Germany for 2 years prior and LOVED it. Singapore is way too hot and ridiculously expensive. I suppose it depends on what you're into, but I prefer mountains and lakes to sweltering beaches and salt water. But the command was great, and so were the travel opportunities. Plus I met my wife there and started a family, so I suppose it was a good 3 years. I'm now stationed in Virginia Beach. Sometimes you don't realize how good you have it until it's over. Lol.

Lol. Yea it is pretty hot out there. But that was usually one of my favorite port visits during deployments. I was trying to get stationed pretty much anywhere overseas. But was always given the "The navy doesn't have enough money to send you out there" excuse. I've been out for a year now though and don't have to deal with any of that anymore.
