Just to give a comparison on similar trucks. The Lariat is 43,710 with full cab, short box, and the most powerful engine available. The Limited Tundra in the same configuration is 46,195. Yes, you have to add a few options to the Ford to get a couple of the little gadgets the Tundra has but the Tundra is missing basics like a factory brake controller as well.

The Tundra is also a Toyota. The Ford is not a Toyota

    do you not understand that?

Yup. Like I said earlier though I would not be surprised if the new Ridgeline is 45K for the highest trim levels.

The Tundra retains about 6-10% more value over a 5 year period. So 4K worth of difference. That's about what it costs to run that Tundra in that time period in extra gas alone. It's all in how you look at things but all of the full sized trucks are retaining there values well now.

I'm sure the 2017 Ridgeline will hold it's value very well.

Gas and diesel was the same price by my apartment this morning. $1.61. I kicked myself a little for not getting an ecodiesel

And for people saying that 25-30 year olds can't afford new cars, I'm 23 and have had a 2015 TRD Sport and now have a 2015 Ram 1500 4x4. No problem paying the truck note.

I have 0% interest on my truck. Please tell me the percentage of people that pay cash for a $35k truck.

+ Paying cash for my truck would be a stupid financial decision since I have it at 0%.

The amount of vehicles bought cash is fairly small now. Anytime the rate is below inflation you are losing money when you pay cash anyways.

My parents make over 250K combined. They own their house outright and have more cash in the bank after my dad sold his business than I care to guess at. They only buy used vehicles cash. Anytime it's new they wait for 0% rates to come up and pull the trigger. That's the cheapest way to buy a car.

There's quite a few cash buyers on TW and this argument pokes up at least once a month. There is nothing wrong with buying a vehicle either way as long as the expense works out fine with your income level and other expenses.

If we are going to get into the whole buy a vehicle outright dick swinging contest it's pretty easy to just say buying a new vehicle is stupid from a cost perspective. Buy 10 year old vehicles and an AMA/CAA card. When it breaks, repeat.
