    Looks great.

Any rubbing on the mud guards during sharp flexed turns?

No rubbing at all, but haven't had a chance to really flex it. Looks like I'll have plenty of room though.

Been reading through this whole thread till my head is spinning :)
Just to clarify I have it right...
I just want to level the truck with 5100s in the front only.
Set at .85 and leave the rear stock and that should do it?
    Alignment needed or no?

You are on the right track. No alignment needed as long as you don't touch it.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess it's cheap insurance to be on the safe side and get an alignment. I appreciate the help.

Wrong, anytime you alter the ride height or mess with suspension, you should always get an alignment...

Jerry is correct. My alignment was way off after I had my 5100s installed.

So you are telling me that when I replace a pair of shocks, I should check my alignment? Really..while I do agree it is best practice, if you don't alter or touch your alignment in any way, why would it be off? I have installed 5100's on 4 trucks, 3 of which were my own. My alignment was never off enough to tell, I had it checked. Yes, by all means, if you have the means, get it checked. But, unless it is crazy off, you should be alright for a bit until you catch up on your bills that you neglected because you dropped your rent money on your truck.

Yes my alignment was off. I'm not a mechanic but I can tell you that my steering wheel was straight and my truck pulling hard to the left. I immediately turned around and went back and they fixed the issue. Also, I will never take mortgage and rent money to buy things. I had enough play money to buy the shocks, have them installed, get the alignment done and buy new tires all without having to take money from rent or something else that was needed to pay.

I did 5100s in the front and back. I wanted the same quality ride from all four corners. The fronts are set to .85 and no lift was done in the rear. They did the alignment because it was off. I don't recommend not getting alignment. Just my 2 cents.

My truck sits perfectly level and I jumped up to a 265/70/17 Hankook tire. I dind't like the Hankooks and Discount tire took them back and put on Nitto Grappler G2 tires. I love the stance of my truck and the look of the tire. Here is a picture with the Hankooks on.

You really shouldn't spread this misinformation. General rule of thumb, if you change suspension parts or alter your ride height in any way, you need to check your alignment, period.. You of course can feel free to do as you please to your own truck, but this is not good practice at all, nor should you advise others to follow in your footsteps.

An alignment is 80 to 100 bucks, big deal. Spend the money to make sure your alignment is correct.

Ride height was altered: up .85. Therefore, suspension geometry is off!

Newbie question. When installing a 3" lift kit , do you have to order extended brake lines? Front or rear if any

I plan to install bilstien 5100s and bilstien with Amal in the rear. The kit comes with the 1/4" spacer for the drivers side. I will change out the uca's later.

Any other advice to get the truck as level as I can ?

    Thanks

It may not be enough to notice it in the steering wheel, but it could cause bad tire wear resulting in noisy tires and premature wear. Like another guy said when you raise the truck you change the geometry of the connected components.
