Yeah the first grill is almost a direct copy of the TED Pro design and I'm wondering if that's what the 2017 TRD Pro will look like. I wouldn't want to over pay for a look that's going to be OEM by the end of the year.

Lot's of people here run aftermarket suspension on 2nd gens. Are you looking for aftermarket options on the 3rd gens? Most of the 2nd gen stuff crosses right over for the suspension. Here are the places I'd recommend around Calgary:

Cochrane Toyota (good prices for Fox, Icon, and anything Toytec sells. They are also a dealership that does tons of lifts so they can tell you what won't or will work. Kyle in parts is the best guy to talk to IMHO.)
The Gearshop (located in Calgary, independent shop, lots of selection from Fox and Walker Evans... they can bring in ARB stuff like OME as well I think)

Sorry. I hate the rhinolined look. It's fine for lower valances and OR bumpers but on a grill... no thanks.

Ok, without anyone jumping on me, or throwing attitude at me for such a silly question (w'ere Canadian eh), question...anyone ever "consider" selling their 2016 Taco to the US?
Would Toyota be able to flag you for doing this?
Are their fees other then transport fees and some other smaller paperwork fees I'm missing that would make this not work?
The exchange rate is below 0.70 now, and seeing I'm only 3 hours from the border, it's tempting lol. My all in loaded $42,000 truck works out to just $29,400 US (plus a few fees). Also, being in Alberta with only 5% tax, it's a bit cheaper then Vancouver where this could be much easier to do logistically.

Just thinking out loud here in the office on a quiet day:bored:

Toyota wouldn't care unless you started doing it as a career.

Once you figure out transport fees, paperwork fees, your own liability insurance, and any other legalities once you start putting a dent in any local US market with Toyota you won't make much.

It won't be Toyota tracking you. It'll be local dealers whining to the mothership as you take their sales and they see these nearly new Canadian Tacoma's showing up for oil changes and warranty work. It'll take Toyota a whole 2 seconds to figure out where they sold that VIN and to whom... and then the jig is up.

Do you need to know, or care?
I saw a Canadian truck for sale on one of these threads in Colorado. Verified by the speedo being in Km's and LTD LB which isn't available down there. Interesting that it only had 200Kms on it, must have flew down there. Anyway, keeping with the American theme..."I'll give you my truck when you pry it from my cold, dead hands"...or the 4th Gens come out. Well, maybe not that long if I have to wait 10 years.

My local used car lot sends truck loads of 1/2 ton and 1/4 ton trucks to the USA right now. Every Sunday night you see at least a truck load, if not more sitting there waiting to be loaded Monday morning. I know the guy, these trucks are 1-2 years old, some 4 years old. Makes a lot more money this way he claims.

They would have to change the laws before they could stop you. As long as you have the appropriate paper work and such I can't see them doing anything about it.

Yes, Toyota would not care about 1 year old used cars with 5000 km's one them...

Trucks with km on them coming in for inspections might be a different story.

Right now I know for a fact Lethbridge Toyota is dumping vehicles into the USA and encouraging US buyers to come get vehicles from them. All used of course.

Used is used, 1km or 1000, they might care, but they couldn't do anything about it legally.

If enough people were to do this, then yes the law makers would likely come up with something to stop it.

If Toyota hears of it you will get Black Listed, yes the auto companies do have black lists, and you will be barred from purchasing a new vehicle in Canada by Toyota. I was an Account Manager for several auto stores aka dealers and know the lists exist. If a dealer is caught ignoring the list they lose their dealership. Back in the 90's there was as much as 25% difference in pricing on some new vehicles based upon the then current exchange rates.
I am not saying you will get caught, just know what issues you might face.

Of course they can do something. They can ban you from buying trucks. Forever. They just black mark your name. Not that you'd care unless you're a Toyota diehard for new trucks but that would be the end of that lol.

This situation happened when the CAD hit par years ago only in reverse. US dealers sold like mad into Canada and companies stopped it themselves. Not with laws. But by making it hard to do it and by reigning in dealers near the border.

The question was can it be done and the answer still remains yes. I think the guy was more or less asking if he could sell his truck to the us to make extra money not make a career out of it.

Then the answer is NO and if he got caught doing it once he might well lose his ability to purchase vehicles. It just is not a case of filling out paper work either.

Yes, you could get away with it at least once... the question is whether your next new truck would be from Toyota.

I also know that last time this happened in the USA the companies shared information. IE Ford was telling Toyota who did this with their vehicles in exchange for the same information. So you could be blacklisted from a lot of companies... and that list effects how nice they are on warranty too.

I highly doubt they would know of your sale before you were to buy again. Lots of dealers around, someone would take his money. Been done before and will be done again I am sure. You make Toyota sound like the fbi

Dealers won't violate a black list on a new vehicle. Trust me. They only hurt themselves for a few K they make off your sale.

Dude it's not the FBI. However, if Tacoma A is sold in Canada and then shows up 3 months later in Wyoming under a different owner it does get looked at. I don't think they'd ban you after doing it once but, let's be honest, you and most people get greedy and do it a few times. Who knows what the magic number is. Then they simply tag your name on their black list and it's done. No court or "I'm sorry" to get you back in. Literally it's 90% computer work and 10% someone notices. I doubt even the dealer has anything to do with it other than seeing your blacklisted.

This has happened before, like I said, so if you don't believe me start searching more forums. Everyone knows of a time when the dollar went like this or went way up and new vehicles started flowing like that. Companies figured out a way past it just like you figure out a way past them and it's not hard.

Last time some dealers even tried denying warranty and waited to fix anything until you brought legal action. What a headache.
