I'll have to go in and look, as I'm institute faction this go 'round. Plus, I've had REALLY shitty drops for the heavy combat armor from the gunners. I think I'm level 52 or so and STILL looking for legs.

 

Did you try both Quincy Ruins and the Hub City Auto Wreckers?

 

Well castle had 31 when I got there
So far I already have 3 of the level 4 venders there.

 

I still need to raid both those places personally. I just did the gunners plaza today though.

 

Multiple times. I got the torso and arms in the first two trips. Nada on the legs, they're always some crappy mod of the regular ones.

 

Did Vault 75 mission. Without spoiling anything I wish there was some more "proof" to what the terminal logs were showing.

Also found the bunker at the very north. Managed to find the start of the mission. Got 3 pieces of the X-01 and opened the bunker.

 

OK, in the Institute main floor area, in between between bioscience and robotics, is a synth vendor called...



I walked up and was happy to see not only some sturdy synth armor in stock




But Legendary Synth Mark 2 and 3 pieces as well! (though not the prices, yeesh)


So, I bought them all, took them back to Spectacle Towers, and modded them the same as my existing heavy combat armor (highest resistance available - poly or nano, and deep pocketed)

Here's the sturdy synth armor after the mods



And the mark 3 legendaries after the mods



And my existing heavy combat armor after the same mods



(Also note my existing right leg is not heavy combat armor, but regular combat armor...damned stingy drops)


Much to my dismay, the ONLY real reason to maybe get the synth armor over the combat armor is ...well...the Mark3 synth arm trades 2 points of explosive resistance to get 1 extra energy resist and a bonus to AP regen

Pretty disappointing, overall. And it cost me 9K to find out! Bastards

 

Well there's a difference between sturdy and heavy. They're two different tiers, you can also find sturdy combat armor but that as well isn't nearly as resistant.

Which is why I said I have yet to see any heavy synth armor.

Yea, I was hoping to find the heavy on the vendor, but no dice Then I was hoping the sturdy would be closer after modding, but that didn't work out either

 

In order to get to the Institute end-game, you have to destroy the Railroad and the BoS. By the time I had heard of the heavy synth armor, Tinker Tom was long a corpse

 

Too bad , cause you could have had both

 

I know that now for next time

Of course, I still have yet to FIND any of the heavy synth armor, so we'll see. Once I do track some down, I'll do like I did here and mod + compare.

 

If I replay I would be inclined to find the Railroad as soon as possible to get the ballistic weave and then just roam around in ballistic underwear and a hat till about Level 40 collecting everything in sight and settlement building

 

Ok now that I've fortified most of my settlements, time to stop fucking around and find nick Valentine lol....after I do some side missions of course.

 

I liked Nick as a companion

I kept him for a good while, even after completing his companion quest. Or what ever it's called when a companion admires you and gives you a perk.

I think I just have him, the Irish chick, and Hancock to finish and then I'm done with all the companions. And the synth guy.

 

Has anyone else run into two identical guys fighting each other named Art? I've run into them three times.
