So , more shower / ensuite progress

We finished the door jambs , so the walls / ceilings in the shower are done with the exception of a few of the pencils on the outboard side of the door jambs we couldn't install due to our support boards , we'll install those in the morning and the shower walls / ceilings will be complete which means we're on to installing the mosaics on the shower floor so at the end of the day today we prepped the shower dry pack mortar base and installed our Kerdi , and Kerdi corners .

    Waterproof and ready for tile

In the cold climate of New England, I've never seen insulated exhaust fan duct. Do use hard pipe though, don't use flex.

    **EDIT**

Your exhaust will be in a conditioned space, no need to use insulated...... Secondly, using flex and the insulated flex will provide some unwanted resistance going through the coil of wire.

You'll be more than fine with 4" hard pipe.

I use rigid galv metal and insulate it , plus make sure the last 4' or so pitches down slightly towards the outside , that way any condensation build up inside the pipe drains out of the vent hood towards thd outside

Update: The tool I ended up using for this project was a buddy that has been out of work for a month. Paid him to do the work I really didn't want to do. It took him two days to dig about a 3'x3' hole and a 20' long 8"x10" trench to the lowest area of the crawl space. Dirt removal by the 5 gallon bucket. Hit some rock but nothing big enough he couldn't dig out. We put a perforated drain pipe in the trench and an actual sump basin in the hole. Surrounded both with gravel.

I installed a 1/3 HP Liberty sump pump. Really impressed with the quality for the price of the pump. Check valve and 1-1/2 PVC and ran it out the corner of my foundation to a splash block.

THANKFULLY the whole project was completed the day before we got 3 days of record flooding rain (9+ Inches) here in Southwest MO. The pump worked flawlessly and over a 3 day period I calculated about 52,000 gallons of water had been pumped out! The pump was cycling once every 35 seconds at over 6 gallons per cycle. A 5 gallon bucket and cheap pump like I was almost charged for probably wouldn't have survived.

So , we got all our remaining pencil trims on , and laid out the floor mat but Yoda had to take off early today and I needed to trim the mosaics so that they have a straight edge at the outside of the mat where they will be surrounded by a 6" wide border of the Silver Shadow

I'm dry fitting the mosaics , cutting and dry fitting the floor border and drain plus a bit more cutting and prep homework over the weekend and we'll lay the shower floor on Monday then we'll install the baseboard and work on the Bianco Carrera that comes around the corner over the vanity and tub deck
