I've been MT for about 3 weeks now and thought "oh, I'll be fine with factory fenders" Fuck was I wrong. Already trying to college-budget some glass onto my truck

No I'm fine with my truck. I was referring to cliffs LT taco.

Might as well just build a dune buggy from the ground up at that point, nothing but respect for that wicked beast tho.

well im still not $80k into my TuRD, but I appreciate the thought. you're deviating from the argument, if you fit 35s on your truck, thats awesome but you cant fit them with a +2 kit and no glass. Hell I stil rub with 35s and a 3.5 over kit.

I can't fit them? What does that mean exactly?

Where and in what situation do you rub?

He didn't say that at all. But given past experience, I can totally see how you interpreted it that way.

There are people that don't want to run glass, don't like the look of it or can't use it for various reasons. You can easily trim your OE fenders and flares for 35's with a +2 kit. There are also people like myself that already had a fully built truck with front and rear plate bumpers made to fit OE fenders and bedsides that can't afford to replace or rebuild everything to match wider fenders and bedsides. There are also people with camper shells that will not fit glass bedsides. A +2 kit is a great way to go from 9 up to 12" of travel and get a slightly wider track width under the above circumstances which I would not call a total waste of time by any means.

so how much of your stock fender did you cut? cuz I dont consider that a "stock fender". Im not knocking, just pointing out that its going to rub and I have pictures that show that.

full bump, full lock. I run a lower offset wheel than most too at 3.5" BS -38mm Offset to push the wheels out further to clear the rear links (86" total track width), which in turn cycles the front further away from the inner fender and I still rub at full bump. But part of that I attribute to the icons yielding more uptravel than a King or Fox shock.

He said +2 is a total waste of time, look at the post.

Have I ever even spoken a single word to you? You think you know how I "interpret things"? Classic keyboard badass jberry, what's new

This is a shitshow. I think it would be cool to have a +2 kit on a first gen. If you think it wouldn't be cool, that's cool too.

I cut probably close to 3.5" after all was said and done. Scandalous.

Yeah I rub on the top inner part of the fender at full bump. And I don't have low offset wheels to my advantage either, looking to change em up in the next couple years.

Im sure you could get a fab shop to do a kit..just cost a shit load of money. But totally possible. Then just get custom length CV axle shafts and you're good. It is possible..

Haha, alright. Wouldn't say the same.

All I remember is a stupid incident in Moab that's long past over, and not much talk in person following. And maybe a couple minor exchanges on here but you don't really know me man. Don't be quick to judge.

Ive seen you shit on people it's hilarious how much you know about these trucks, but please don't talk down to me and others just because you see one post and think "wow this guys a retard"

F/R stock width plate bumpers. +2 kit also and 35s for that matter, decent idea of how wide it gets at bump. Don't get me wrong either, I still think my truck looked the best on stock fenders, 35s and LT but the combo just absolutely destroyed everything in and around the wheel wells.

12" is a stretch too. my AP kit maybe pulled 11 on a good day... maybe... but thats all pro too

if you dont have to, dont do it. It puts a lot of extra stress on your hubs. Ive already gone through a set in less than 5k

Sorry but in my opinion those fenders clearly don't fit that bumper and it just doesn't look good to me. Also, if you tag the corner of that fender it is going to explode because the bumper is not protecting it at all...which is kind of the whole point of armor.

I've seen Pelfry plate bumpers built to match the width of glass fenders and bed sides that look really fkn good but in my case truck was basically completely built and done with bumpers and a shell so I had to go with an option that did not require glass. I'm stoked with my +2 kit daily driver and don't find it to be " useless" at all...even if it is just " glorified mid travel " it works perfect for me and gained me a few more inches of travel that I wanted.

No problems yet, neither has Landon that I know of (other than the mounts being a weak point because of all the force on them, easily fixed with a few gussets). Doing an upper link as pictured below as soon as I can park the truck in the shop for longer than a few hours. Landon has already done the hard part figuring out the geometry, so I get to cheat.

    Nice kit, how much?

So you do rub, even after cutting. How do you think a +2 kit is going to fit better, especially with more travel?
I rub a little bit at full lock and compression with 33's and a 3.5 kit, stock fenders aren't even a thought. Even my wheel wells need massaging, and the core support won't be around for much longer..

If you want to run 35's on stock suspension and rub like fuck then do it, but you don't need to lie and say they fit great, and you don't need to act like that's a good idea to do with balljoints and stock snouts...

A +2 is only looked down upon because a +3.5 kit performs better in every way, without the disadvantages of a 2" kit, just so you can save 3" of total track width... That's about the length of your pinky, hardly the difference between fitting on a trail or not...

New day, new cantilever with shocks in the bed circle jerk on here....
