Hahah I knew I would riffle some feathers. With the 3.0l standard, I don't think it is as popular as the 1st and 3rd Gens. The 3.0 is pretty much the only reason I never looked at the 2nd Gen, after my step-dad has a 3.0 1st Gen.

Only way I'll ever buy another 3.0 is if it's in a 1st gen and it's getting ripped out for a 3.4. That engine ran fine, but I swear my daughters power wheels had more power and better mpg.

Yeah everyone likes to bitch about that engine, but honestly it's not all that bad. Can it blow head gaskets? Yes. Is it the only engine in the world that will ever blow one? No. I see a lot of cars that blow the HG. A lot more than people realize because it'll be a minor blow that only slightly affects performance, but it does happen. Personally I'm quite happy with it. I mean yes mine currently has a blown HG, but that does attribute a lot to the fact I tried to drive a 25 year old car with 260XXX miles on it across the desert in the middle of a summer day. Other than that the thing has NEVER failed me. Just like with any engine how the user takes care of it affects it greatly.

The HG is an issue, it is a very low powered motor. My 22RE would walk all over my step-dads 3.0 going up hills. It is very underpowered and imho not a very good motor. I love the body style of the 2nd Gen, just not the 3.0.

I have another car for DD work, so the 4Runner is a trail rig. I am probably going to have to sell the Camry this summer because the 4Runner became the DD this winter because of the snow.

What kind of bumper is that?

Nor our wives can ever make us sell it. lol

True. Did you know you can insure it to include value of your mods in the event you get it stolen or its in an accident?

4runner - rig to gain experience on
Tacoma - long term rig once ive gained experience on the 4runner.

might end up keeping both now that we are discussing the possibilities of keeping these since we will never get our money back :anonymous:

As soon as I get all my stuff on I am going to insure the aftermarket items I have on it.

Hoping I can get a Subbie this summer for the winter. Would be much nicer to have AWD with all this ice

I think so. She has been good to me, but all this ice is killing me. Plus to leave town I have to climb mountains, so if it is snowing the Camry is going now where. Almost put here in the drainage ditch at my parents house last week in the snow.

Personally I disagree. I've never been in a situation where I've said "Man I need more power!" I've always been able to just grenade it up hills no problem. Even coming up the mountain I live on, it's gone up faster than my Firebird was able to, which actually surprised the hell out of me. I love my 3.0 and I can't wait to strap myself to it again :D

Ahh you have a manual, my step-dad had an automatic. I drove my friends 89 with the 3.0/Manual and it wasn't as terrible as the automatic.

I heard the 4runner can be hand in one...

Now we know you are lying. Everyone wants more power. :p

I was looking for a manual e-locked 4Runner, but settled on just the E-locker. Too hard to find with both.
