Looking to see if anyone is messing with the cooper discover st Maxxx tires? How are they? And how wide of a tire can I get on 17 stock wheels? not really to get new wheels yet. Could I get a 255/80/17 on them or is that pushing it to much?

255s are narrower than the 265 stock tires. Good to go so far but we don't know what kind of trouble you might, or might not, have since you didn't tell us what width and backspacing your wheels have. Stock?

Edit - Doh! Readin is fundamentul. :( You are good on width and may have a bit of trouble with rubbing. You might have to beat down the punch weld but probably no trouble with the cab mounts. I would go for it. IMO 255s are the best option for bigger tires. Different wheels would probably exacerbate the problems.

Yes all stock wheels which I think is 7.5 width and I also have 1-1/2 inch wheel spacers. Would a 295/70/r17 or 305/65/r17 work I'm trying to get the widest tires I can with the stock wheels with the height about 33 if it's a lil more that's fine

you better check the specs on that lift kit before deciding to buy it. my 6" lift kit required me to have at least 18s. i was hard headed and kept my 17s and now the distance between my outter tie-rod end and my rim is the thickness of a credit card. be careful with 17s and 6" lift

depends on the lift. Mine had to have 18s, but I think other lifts say 17s will work

im currently running some aftermarket 17s that are -12 offset (4.5" backspacing) i ended up grinding down the tie-rods a little bit to get a little more clearance. like @pinchetaco said it depends on the lift

Well I just checked it out and they said they recommend 35x12.50 tires with 17x8 with a 4-5/8 backspacing, would it hurt to keep it stuck for now and eventually put 33 or 35 tire with a 18x9 wheel?

what lift are you running? As far as wheels, idk what the backspacing is on the stock wheel, so you could run into that issue. How wide are the stock wheels?

I have the 05 Tacoma rough country 6 inch lift with 1-1/2 wheel spacers now and the stock wheels I believe have a +30 offset but not sure. And the stock wheels are 7.5

I have the BDS 6" and needed 18s. I run 35x12.5 with 18 inch rim -12 offset 4.5 BS and love it. 6" lifts are made to clear larger tires. Stuff 37s if you can IMO. Only issue is you may want to regear (like me) to get power back. You'll notice a difference if you do go bigger, and possibly do some cutting and smashing! Looks good tho, love mine.

How much is it to regear? I was thinking about doing that anyway after I put tires on, I'm guessing it helps your mpg? and is it possible to over do it?

it doesn't make the MPG worse, don't know about better... I bought gears and ARB air front and rear lockers in one go. Came to ~5000 CAD. So gears maybe 2000 CAD? about 1500 USD im guessing. I got Yukon gears, guys run nitro or something like that but they cant be any different. I know nitro or nitto or whatever is 2000 USD for a 4.56. I have 4.88s. they say 4.88 for 35s and automatic, 4.56 for 35s and manual. I have an auto and once I burn these tires in a few years plan on running 37s so it made sense for me.

35 and 33 won't do much difference when your DD, I'd save 2000 bucks and just run 35s ;)

How's the mpg with the 35s? What y'all think about running 18x9 wheels with a 12 offset and 5.47 backspacing with some 28565/r18 cooper discoverer stt pros?
