I've got no dogs in the fight here as I have a 1st gen and don't even have the option, but out of curiosity, can I get a reasonable explanation as to what exactly is wrong with this? Sure ProComp is not known for producing quality lifts in the past, but does that mean they are completely incapable of producing something of quality? Is there any documented evidence of these having issues?

Really what I'm getting at is the bigger picture of how frustrating it is when fanboys for specific products impede the flow of honest information. If they're terrible, state why. If Total Chaos' UCAs are far superior, it should be easy to prove such. This often is a huge issue on here and was one of the big problems with the Mid-Travel vs 1.0 thread. Bashing a product with no reasonable basis for opinion or justification doesn't help anybody.

I am not sure but maybe the Pro Comp UCAs should be compared more to JBAs or Light Racing :notsure:

Didn't really see much to gripe over

The one thing I noticed was the Pro Comp arms don't say anything about adding castor, that alone would make me pass on them. Camburg adds castor and uses a larger 1.25" uniball :p

Same. Got mine new and told myself I was not touching it. I have about 15-20k into it and its only used for my desert trips now.
I just can't leave them alone. Every truck I have owned has been modified.
    I'm not.
TC makes great stuff for sure, there is no question about that. But the reality is they are a small operation and pick and choose who they sell too. Price wise, they are one of the most expensive arms out there. If they think their name will carry them along forever that's just not going to happen.

Way too much competition out there who are just as capable of producing the same quality UCAs for less.

On another note these ProComp arms are old news and have been out on the market for about year; I never hear much about them though.

The pro comp is probably a good product. The thing is, its just another copy. Total Chaos was likely one of the pioneers to create a uni-ball UCA. That history of R&D usually means something. For another company to come along and create a near replica with a few minor tweaks doesn't really say much.

Total Chaos, Camburg, All Pro, Pro Comp, Dirt King, even Fabtech, all make uni-ball UCAs that all have identical looks and features. I would go with the one that has the most history, the most experience racing and testing thier product, and the ones with the best customer service.

Think of it this way. I work for a very large company and we have the ability to spend a shit ton of $$$ on R&D, materials, and initial production before finding cheap labor. My guess is ProComp has the funds to support the R&D and production of some high quality arms. They also have the money to pay for talented people to support them with this.

Now take a look at TC, do you think they are on the same level as ProComp? Likely not.

A lot of the responses are dead on. It's a copy of an already proven product. My 08 I purchased with a Pro Comp lift before I knew anything about them. Took me 2 years and a shit ton of money to get my build to perform off road and in the end I ripped off everything but the DB and bought a new truck.
Pro Comp customer service is shit and their lifts are for looks. I tried for so long to defend PC, but even i couldnt back up the product any longer.
Sure, I'm a TC fan, big time. Call them and get an answer every time from Pat or Nicole. I've had the uppers and lowers almost 50k and they still impress the shit out of me. I've tagged them on rocks as well as have the weight of the truck on them across a rock and they still look fantastic. I bent my drop bracket and compression struts in one trip. So yea, I have zero faith in a PC product because I have used them.

If the article was PC vs Camburg, DK or ICON I would defend them just the same based off of fellow members experiences.

Camburg is another great product and race proven. I haven't heard too much good about their customer service but you're right on the adding castor.

    Well said sir.

@Squeaky Penguin I appreciate your spirited response, I really do. TC is a small business and take pride in their work like many small companies that build mods for enthusiasts like us.
Truth be told I stand behind the company that supports their products and customers.

In my opinion and dealings with Icon have left a sour taste in my mouth also. I couldn't get the same answer twice calling them and blew up a shock in the first 6 months of ownership. King however, give them a call and 100% of the time you're going to get someone on the phone that will be able to help you.
Im also yet to outperform the Kings.

When I bought my truck (used) it had a ProComp 3" kit on it.. it was crap. but I also beat on it.. Dunes, Local Motors test track, etc.. I eventually blew out the lower eyelet bushing.. not to mention the stiff AF AAL. It has since been replaced.. twice over.. lol

I never new that about your build! I think we all share the many times over learned lessons when it comes to building a truck.
