Before I jump on the ST maxx band wagon. How do they compare to the BFG A/T D-load range? 285/70/17. I'm going same size on ST maxx. My BFG's are getting loud and stiff as I they near the end of their life.

My favorite tire for all around use has been the DuraTrac(285/70/17)! It's been an excellent, aggressive tire...fantastic on our icy, snowy roads(un-pinned)! I just ordered and installed my third set!

I've always wanted one in a 255/80/17, but no luck yet!

So...I just had a set of ST MAXX installed on my factory wheels and had them pinned for strictly winter use!

Differences I've noticed...the STs definitely "feel" lighter driving on them! Probably due to the thinner contact patch! Curious to see if there's a gain in mileage! The other main difference is a lot less siping! I'm hoping the studs make up for that!

C'mon snowy roads, I want to test them out!

They suck. I wouldn't put BFG's on my mower.

General Grabber AT2s are similar in tread pattern, much cheaper, and AWESOME in the snow!

That's a tire i looked at before going MAXX, but a comparison that I saw of a handful of tires (including Coopers and BFG AT) showed that the BFGs were horrendous on wet pavement...
also testimonials from people that had run both said that the ST MAXX was quieter on pavement than the BFG A/T despite being a bulkier, more offroad oriented tire.

I went with the MAXX and have been very happy both on and off road.

Searched around for weeks trying to find a good tire and I think the coopers are a go! For the price you really can't beat it! From what I've read there an awesome road tire as they are an at/mud tire looking forward to putting them on this taco!

Im not positive, but I don't think they make the bfg ko2 in load range D anymore. I think its only offered in E.

Anyway, ive had bfg ATs on trucks before and i like my ST Maxx tires much more!
