Just picked up my blue 2016 and am curious about this too. Still might be too early to ask but if anyone has added a carplay deck to their new tacoma I'd like to know how well it integrated with the tacoma also.

Picked her up Thursday. Wow, so happy. Too early to comment on gas mileage.

    Random question...

What's the purpose of the thin plastic piece under the bumper?

Seems like it will be the first thing to break.

I have seen some pictures around here with it removed, and I'm curious what the negatives of removing it are?

Would I have to get aftermarket skid plate if I want to remove it?

    Thanks fellas...

Are you talking about the air dam? If so that's supposed to assist with aerodynamics. Some say it helps with fuel economy. A skid plate wouldn't be necessary if you wanted to remove it.

Yes I think that's what I'm referring to, thanks Jim!

So from the sound of it, it's like a spoiler wing on the back of a car, except on the front under the bumper?

Yea, I wanna take it off. Looks cheap and real flimsy... I'd rather be able to see under the truck more from the front too.

    Thanks again.

Edit to add... It's off, and looks better imo...

Ok, 3rd gen owners, I've got a question about something that has plagued us 1st and 2nd gen owners for years now....

Does the blower motor chirp? :D

Well, mine doesn't, but I inspected the housing and it looks the same. I had to take my 2nd Gen blower out every 2-3 months and clean the brushes.

I'll be curious to see if they've finally fixed it. The blower motor in my '84 Dodge is original and makes zero noise (other than the sound of air moving), and the motor in my '69 is the same way, so it kind of bugged me when I went from my '99 to my '10 and the blower was still chirping.

My guess is that the blower manufacturer is probably a preferred supplier. There's a Japanese word for the relationship, according to the TPS, but I can't remember.

Curious if you see a difference in highway MPG. On Fuelly the average mpg of the TRD Sport is ~1mpg higher than the TRD Offroad. I know it's just one example, and there are many variables (tires, etc)..and you have an SR. But the Sport and the OR are the only two on fuelly with more than a handful of results, and it's interesting to wonder how much of the difference is due to the spoiler. NBD with low gas prices i guess.

    I'm curious myself, tbh.

@jonnyozero3 I don't supposed you got the inspiration for your username from ol' John D Foley, the famous Army Air Forces gunner from WWII?

    3" Lift, 275/16 Tires.
Just bought a new 2016 Tacoma SR5 about a month ago with a 3" lift. Just hit about 500 miles and have noticed a very consistent pulsating coming from what feel like the front. I had the 2nd gen Tacoma before this and am familiar with the driveline vibration between 25 and 35 but this one is a little different. Almost like you're hitting little cattle guards that increase in reputations with speed. It still occurs when I lift off the gas peddle and coast. I have had several people ride with me and ask if they feel it too and all definitely notice the subtle pulsating. Additionally just to add the tires are balanced. Also worth noting it doesn't do it while in 4 wheel drive. At least I don't notice it.
