The Waiting Game...Who's playing?

Just got an email from my salesman, my truck goes into production Jan 15 and I should have it late February. I'm hoping that he is under promising and it takes less than a month to get here!

 

Anyone have problems with changes? I requested a color change from blk to white but the salesman said its not possible, even though the build date isnt til 1/28.

 

It seems to be a 'mandatory' type of dealer option here in Alberta.

 

Mine gets built on 1/29 and I have the VIN. I'm told the wait is 3-4 weeks to the dealer after that depending on weather, sometimes sooner. Oh, I have to wait on a dealer transfer too. I'm not holding my breath for a February pick up date in the Front Range area but it sure would be nice.

I'm sure someone has an exact answer for this, but this is what I'm guessing they do. Toyota has a list of trucks to be made, the dealer checks that list for one like you are looking for and has it sent to them.

I initially put a deposit down for an Inferno DCOR without the premium tech package; when I did that truck was in freight status and he said it would be a few weeks until it got delivered. After thinking about it, I changed my mind and decided I do want the premium tech package. He said he could get me that one but it would be a little further out, it had a build date of 1/8.

Basically I think the truck you ordered has a build date of 1/28 with a certain color and set up. You can't change that specific trucks color, if you wanted a different color they would just find a different truck with a different build date.

 

Picking mine up in 2 hours!

 

From what I have been told "A status" is for Allocation meaning it is holding a place in line to be built. But would be very happy to be wrong. Mine's in A status as well.

 

My build date is on the 18th and really hoping they don't jack me around on price when it gets here.

 

Bought my TRD sport dblc inferno on December 15... waiting period was 8-10 weeks at the time.... I never got a more precise idea... in the meantime I'm trying to sell my 2012 rav4 v6 Sport...the dealer is giving me 20k for the trade but I'm trying to get a bit more if I can...

 

This is the follow up response I received when I asked about the A status.

"It means that it is currently being assembled. I will let you know as soon as it goes in to shipping, and follow up with an ETA."

 

Thanks, I guess the dealer just doesn't want to deal with making another change.

 

my dealer says my truck is in Production... but not sure what delay that means... he says I'm the next TRD sport dbl cab to be coming off the line... that i'ts got my name on it... not sure what that means for delays and also if that is completely true or just trying to make me feel better

Status changed overnight, being processed for shipping, which I am told it's in line to ship. Ordered, 10/12.

 

how do you have access to this info... dealer or some neat trick?

Originally ordered on DCSB SR on 12/12/15. Changed order to DCSB OR on 12/19/15. Added tech and premium with JBL on 12/22/15.

 

So does "build date" refer to the date the build starts or the day it rolls off the assembly line?

 

Your dealer would have this info.
