i just had new tires put on and 2 alignments done and my steering wheel keeps shaking around 45mph. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do. I don't have any lift on it and it is a 2011 TRD sport.

Its a wild guess, but its your tires. They're either out of round, or out of balance or both. Ask the tire shop to recheck them.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. My powder coat was bubbling off of the wheels badly. I took them off to clean them up and black them out, but while i was in there, I took the wire wheel and cleaned up the center and back where the wheel fits over the hub. When I put them back on, the truck is smooth as glass. I also cleaned up the rotors and hubs in that spot. Not saying it will fix your issue, but it fixed mine.

Was it doing this before the new tires and alignments as well or did it just start after the new tires and alignment? Also how many miles on are on it?

Mine started doing this after adding aftermarket wheels to stock tires. Sometimes it vibes between 45-65 mph, sometimes it's smooth. Toyota dealership said the wheels/tires were as balanced as they can make them but sometimes aftermarket wheels are slightly off compared to OEM.

Are you aftermarket wheels hub centric or lug centric?
Toyota uses hub centric. If your wheels are lug centric it could be your problem.
If the center hole in the wheel is loose on the hub centering ridge it could be a problem. You may be able to fix this getting Hub Adapter rings.

Hmm good question. I got the wheels from Wheeler's but they have since been discontinued. They were 16x8 steel rims. I'll try to find out from Wheelers. Thanks for bringing this up!

Get them road force balanced using a Haweka Adapter.

Turns out my aftermarket wheels are lug centric, so I'll check out the site you linked an look into getting some of those fittings to hopefully correct the problem. Thanks again!

me too 2013 stock tires original purchase, my next set of tires will be MICHELIN MS2 it might be the Dunflops that are causing this too. also I had a front strut go bad in which I noticed oil leaking they only replaced it under the Certified used car warranty for $50 co pay I was wondering if not replacing both fronts would have been better they say replace struts/shocks in pairs, in this case the almighty Toyota Corp said no only replace the one defective strut.

Kind of like my mother-in-laws Caddy. Her seat shakes when switching lanes which is weird.

I too am in the same boat. I switched to Level 8 wheels with Cooper ATPs at 2,500 miles. The first 5,000 miles with this combo, never had an issue. Had them rebalanced and rotated at 7,500 since I was about to travel back home for Christmas. Since coming home from the holidays, I've now experienced this 3 times randomly in the last 4 weeks. One day on the highway, it's fine and smooth. Then randomly another day, the wheel is shaking like crazy. I have yet to begin my search.

Same problem here. Feel it slightly with stock tires, but a lot worse with my 18" XD Monsters with Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/65/18. Looking for a fix or any suggestions.

I have a 2011 TRD off road package prerunner. Have the stock alloy take offs with the stock BFG's no issues. Replaced tire went with Michelin's MS2 and smooth as glass. Then I got the itch to get after market wheels and Hancock AT. At first it had a ever so slight vib at 53 mph and another at 63. After 5000 miles took it in to get rebalanced and rotated and then it shock so bade that I clouded even drive it. After the third balance and one being a road force balance at two diferent shops I got so pissed that I got some new Michelin AT2's and had them put on my stock alloys and presto smooth as glass all over again. OP if your wheels are the stock ones then I would say tires / balance .

Possible steering rack bushings causing this as stated in some other threads.

Sometimes my truck will shake at 40mph and sometimes its smooth. Luckily its more smooth than it does shake. It is very annoying. I am not pursuing my issue until I replace my factory tires.
