I got the A.R.E. cover. It comes painted to match the truck & installed for $800. Check different auto accessory shops for prices. Outstanding cover, high quality.

The auto accessory store installed it.Not sure what they did to install it. The hinges are up by the cab. I was told it could be removed by disconnecting the gas shocks & lifting it up paralell with the cab. It would be a 2-3 person job. I have never removed it. Never needed to. If I have a bulky item, I use bungee cords to strap the cover down.

Sorry to hear the bumper got hit. Bummer!:(

I have the A.R.E LS2(LSII) series. It is molded to match the [FONT=verdana, tahoma, arial][FONT=verdana, tahoma, arial]curvature of the truck. Good quality cover. Easy opening & raising, you can do it with one hand. I am very pleased with mine. No problems. When I bought it this was the only one available for 2nd gen Tacoma.

Their website has a place to put your zip to find a local dealer. I paid $800 back in 2005, painted & installed.

You say Bak replaced your G1 for a G2 for free! How did you accomplish this? I would really like to know because I am very dissatisfied with my G1. Please let me know. Thanks

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
I believe it was when the G2 was initially rolled out. I also have the G1 and it has fallen apart - what a pile of shit it is.

I called BAK to try to have mine replaced about 6 months ago, and they offered me 10% off a new one. I told them to get f*cked. I wasn't going to pay for another piece of garbage. (I'm still bitter about the whole thing)

After my research, I ordered the Access Roll-up. It has the watertight seal that is missing on the cheaper LiteRider but not the dual latching system on the LE. I don't need the dual latch and I was able to get the Roll-Up for $340 from Luke at Truck Alterations. I ordered it on Friday, February 20th and it was delivered today! That is some fast turnaround!

I highly recommend dealing with Truck Alterations. He was very helpful in talking to me about the different features of each cover and helping me decide which to get. He wasn't trying to push the more expensive model and was very easy to deal with. He shipped the same day I ordered!!! Best price around (about $80 less than other dealers).

Can't wait to get home and begin the install! I'll post up some pictures once complete.
