The easiest way is to simply remove the entire light assembly. There are two clips on each side (front and back). Use a long screw driver to push the clip towards the light housing and you can then pop the other side by using a screw driver from the license plate side of the bumper. I did mine in a few minutes per side this way since getting my hands in there with the tow package was not happening. The light assemblies will be removed by pushing it towards the license plate.

Just feel around on the light assembly and you'll feel the clips.

I may have missed it but has the LED interior light issues been solved or figured out? I have leds from vleds waiting to go in but I wanted to wait to see if the issues people were having were solved.

Man, I've seen several write ups on issues caused by leds in several different threads. Hopefully someone else will read my post.

Can anyone please put a short video on how to get the lights out and replaced by the LEDs ? It would be greatly appreciated. I just ordered them from superbrightleds and I don't want to mess them up
    Thanks

Blown fuses cause their dumbasses bridge the connections with their flat head
And since it was a tiny spark they put it all back together cause "it was too small to cause problems"

The only thing of concern is the middle back domelight, there is a metal piece that is grounded to the car in the holder

Not even that, because there is a gap of 5mm
    It's impossible

You literally just pull straight down on the plastic edges of the whole assembly and there are several push tabs that will pop out. A good amount of pressure to do this but it comes out and nothing with break as it's just the push tabs that hold it up. Let me know if you need anything else

I did this and love it. Thanks to OP for posting the part# as well. Beware superbrightled is backordered on the vanity lights. I only got the map and the dome light. The vanity bulbs will be shipped 1/29!

As many have posted, pulling the map lights out is a bit hassle. However the scotch tape trick works great. I moved the bulb back and forth a little bit first to get it slightly loose. Then I put the scotch tape on, pressed the tape on to the bulb with one hand and slowly pulled the other end of the tape down. See attached picture after the bulb was removed.

Thanks to patr and NoDak for posting up their findings. I ended up ordering from VLED; ordered bulbs for the interior lights and the license plate lights. As for my reverse lights, I used some spare CREE bulbs that I had for my Fronty. Kinda wish I would've pulled the ones from my Fronty since they were still good and they weren't cheap. It's been a few years and not sure which ones they are but it's between these two: http://jlcconcept.com/index.php?rou...ree&description=true&sub_category=true&page=1

Thank you from us too. I would do anything to make the inside brighter. I really do hate all the black, even in the LImited. Growing up in Arizona it would have been suicide to have a black interior. I still dread this coming summer with all that is black in my new one . I will like the lights to help it at night, but am going to put a leather wheel cover, Beige one, and might even have the carpet removed and replaced with a darker beige to match the leather seats. I can't buy them as Toyota has no beige carpets in the Tacomas so they aren't going to make them either. My wife had a 2005 Tacoma that was light colored on the inside and we are not adjusting well to this one. But thanks for the LED info.

Does anyone know which 28mm LED light fits the dome light?

On my TRD OF, the dome light bulb in the original post does not work. It's way too long. I bastardized it into place, but it will need replacing. Anyone got one that goes in as intended?

OP's bulb seems to be the right size, but the Toyota version has "nippled" edges, which essentially cuts 2-3 mm off of the bulb once you insert it into the retainer holes.

Also, for those looking at the directions a few pages back, there was a wording error. The dome light comes out by sticking a thin screw driver in the two small holes that are towards the FRONT of the car, not the rear. Do not take the whole light assembly out (like I tried to), just the white transparent plastic piece.

Edit: I guess I'm going to try http://www.amazon.com/Partsam6X-White-Festoon-12SMD-DE3175/dp/B00LL37F12/

My order from VLEDS came in for my interior and license plate lights. They are super bright and think the vanity lights are too bright. Might remove those and keep the stockers in.

I just installed all interior LEDs and thought the vanity ones were pretty bright too. What I did is turn those LED light sideways so it isn't as bright and I like it.

Just try to give it a couple more days and its not gonna be too bright. Staying with the stock ones are not an option either, they are too dark. I also opted not to switch the vanity lights as well, just to keep it more functional and not glaring to the one who is actually using the mirror.

I just want to say I bought and installed exactly what the OP has.... It's been three weeks or so with no issues at all, they look good and I don't think any of them are too bright.... Thanks everyone for the good info on changing the lights!!!!
