I can't belive I wasn't a member!

I've visited this site many times and Im suprised i wasn't a member already. I've owned 2 other Toyota trucks ('87 pickup 4x4 and '02 Tacoma 2x4 prerunner) and this is my first brand spanking new Tacoma. Figured this one will be for the future kin. I'm interested in mods and info on fun trails in the SoCal area. Look forward to testing out this new beast of a truck too!!

 

welcome to TW!... I know there is a thread here that is pretty comprehensive with SoCal trails.. I didn't know about this site too until I ran into it trying to google a lot of things about my truck.

 

Not a huge fan of the 3rd gens just yet but your a Taco owner none the less welcome to TW! What part of SoCal you in? I'm also in SoCal Santa Clarita to be exact

 

Thanks for the welcome! I know of a few from when I used to actively 4wheel, but it seems like younger me didn't know jack. I'm sure I'll come across a treasure trove of info. I'm looking for more adventure trails for sight seeing and overnight treks (old mines, hidden gems only accessible with 4WD, etc.). We'll see where the wind will take me.

 

Thanks SoCal, I've been Toyota Loyal for many years. I wouldn't venture anywhere else at this point. I wasn't completely sold at first with this new generation, but then I researched what has been done to the 3rd Gen and when I drove it I was hooked. I've driven 2nd generation tacomas before and i feel that it honors the trucks from previous generations with suspension and ride quality, but is redesigned to be not just more fuel efficient (which is beneficial for daily drivers), but quieter inside (almost too quiet for a guy who was bred to listens for issues while driving). I'm not completely sold on the CRAWL system as I feel its cheating, but if I'm ever wheeling alone, it may save my ass. The technology in this truck is what really amazed me. Now understand, I'm coming from an '02 Tacoma that still had a tape cassette feature. I'm still learning all the abilities with this beast (and she is beastly). I'm just eager to see what she is capable of doing off-road. I'm out of South Orange County, Mission Viejo area. I think some buddies of mine are heading to Gorman this weekend, so let's hope I can get her in dirt soon!
