So potentially putting the lives of the driver, it's occupants and those on the roads around them by blinding their vision in wet or snowy conditions is just service for getting your feelings hurt in the service department?! Their wives or older children could be driving that vehicle when those conditions arise. You knew exactly what you signed up for when working for the service department. Disgruntled customers is normal occurrence. People are ignorant and stupid especially when you deal with them directly, but fucking with them in that nature is straight bullshit.
Anyone who does that is a straight up bottom of the barrel piece of shit scum. Karma can be a motherfucker.

My dealership also has a nice lounge and coffee machines etc. and they wash my Taco. They have TVs, shopping area, and playstations.

Just a note ... some of us have "jobs" so when, I make an appointment, I do so because I may have to go back to work. It is not always easy to take a 2 hr lunch.

Bookings on the weekend is tough as they are sometimes booked 3 weeks out, and I live 45 minutes out of town. Other dealerships 1.5 - 4 hours away.

Tire rotations and such are usually done by the lube/tire department. Some places have multiple bays, one for appointments and one for drive ups.

Being older, I now try and schedule my services expecting that it will take longer, then I am more happier and positive when I get out sooner.

Customer service is dead and most dealers have complete disregard for the customers time. Unfortunately, it's the state of service throughout and we have learned to put up with it. Same nonsense at doctors offices. Drop it off and do something else or avoid them completely seems to be the best strategy. I had a VW and they had great service. Toyota needs to put some pressure on the dealers to step up before and after sale service.

I avoid the dealership at all cost, unless it's warranty/TSB, etc.. How long does it take you to change your oil? Especially if it's lifted, it's that much easier. I can do it quicker than I can drive to the dealership.

I'd know and I'd be back with a vengeance if a dealer tech got pissy and did something that
actually endangered the lives of my family. Oil doesn't just fall from the sky. Karma is a motherfucker man.

Yesterday, 9:00am appointment, dealer did the 5k (skipped rotation since tire/wheel dealer for snows and touring sets nails that) in under an hour.

    With a wash.

    That's award-winning enough for me.

I have not gone to my dealer a single time to get the "free" service done. First off it's about 30 minutes from my house. Second, I've heard similar stories to the OP's story many times over again. My time is worth far more than what basic oil change and service goes for. The dealership called a few times to schedule said service and each time I ask them if I could just get the supplies and take care of it on my own. Every single time the Gidget on the other end of the line puts me on hold and then comes back and tells me that out isn't possible. I finally just told them that I have 25k on my truck already.

Knowledge is Power, so check you wipers before leaving the deanship to see how you rate on the Dick Head Scale, especially if you expressed interest in a person having sex with his own mother or himself. And for those people that think this type of behavior is acceptable and is to be expected at a dealership .....Remember those service people are not there to be your personal verbal punching bag regardless of the level of arrogaunst in you personality.

Typically you will get a young service (tech) lol doing minor services when you take your truck to the dealer. These are kids that don't give a shit about what they are doing. And they do stupid shit like putting oil on your wiper blades. They obviously are endangering the lives of the customers. Do yourselves a favor and skip the Toyota care. I know it's free but Change your oil & rotate yourselves ever 5k. Not 10k. And anyone can check fluids. I'm surprised that some dealers are actually changing oil at 5k because Toyota care only wants to change at 10k. Save time and $80 and do it yourself. It's easy. I also have a 14 Avalon. I think the Toyota care is a joke. It's just for marketing.

Just a friendly tip for when you bring your truck in for your first service..... Toyota won't hand you keys to a demo vehicle to drive all weekend for a routine service of your truck.

You now have a Toyota. You'll be in for a bad time if you think than will happen now. :D

So before you got married and bought a house you were ok with you're time being wasted?!

Sounds like you ended up wasting more time by going to another dealer for a 30 minute savings. You probably spent at least 30 minutes driving to and from the first dealer you had an appointment at and arguing with them, and now you have to go back again to another dealership. If you would have just sucked it up for the two hours the other day it would be done already!

To TommyG : You are Spot on, that's exactly what I've seen. I do the very same thing when at the close with the F&I Guy I tell them that unless there is Warranty issue in the next 2 & 36,000 you will never see this vehicle again I do all my own maintenance and repairs. It's worked out the best for me.

It is nice you have the know how, the tools, and a place to work on your truck. Not everyone is so fortunate.

Its the same as Lexus I believe. The 5k is only a 2 hour window so they dont loan cars for those. If you get an appointment early enough they have a handful of customer waiting appts.

I stay plenty busy while the truck is being serviced.... visit with friends I haven't seen, take the dog for a long walk, read, go to lunch, go on-line, go bird watching, take office work with me..... I agree, my (and YOUR) time IS valuable. And I've plenty to do other than sit around twiddling my thumbs because I can't figure out that I've got lots to do.
(And bitching to the service department is not on my list. I work WITH them. If your vehicle has an issue, even if YOU can't fix it, do some homework and talk to the shop intelligently. My best friends all the places I flew for a living were the mechanics, because I worked WITH them, instead of bitching 'this is wrong, and that is wrong, and....."
