I've washed my vehicle a few times and went through a touchless car wash once. I didn't know it clicked a second time so it was always slightly up. With that being said, I had minimal drips in the bed by the tailgate and zero water stains anywhere else. They are pretty solid and I love mine.

Then you need to go back to the dealer and have the service department look over your factory cover. It wasn't a waste of money, at least for me since mine works. I came back after lunch and put my weight on the back and sure enough it seated fully instead of having a slight lift on the back corners.

Interesting... I have yet to see one that's perfectly water tight .... but it should definitely should keep most of the water out. I wonder if I should keep my exTang (adapted from previous gen) or upgrade to a Toyota one.

I don't know, he said his bed was flooded which sounds a bit over the top and should be easy to spot where the issue is. Mine would have some leaks prior to me sitting on each end of the tailgate. I almost just want to spray the back end after work to see what happens now.

For me it was a dealbreaker. I didn't care for the looks of it from day one, but when I heard about the cutting into the bed of the truck all bets were off. I would have got it as an option in a heartbeat if I would have liked it. Glad to hear some are liking theirs, Enjoy your new Tacoma's!

I ordered my 16 trd sport without the factory cover, but when it showed up it had it on. I didn't pay for it so I just kept it. As for being weather tight it's not. A little bit of water gets in around the corners when it rains. It's not a ton but enough to worry about. There's not way to adjust it so it fits tighter and keeps the rain or snow out completely. I would say I like how sturdy it is and how it can be secure..... But for the money there are better covers. I had a trifold cover on my tundra made by toneau pro. To was about $230 installed in about 5 minutes and was weathertight.

I have one on my 2016 Sport and really like it. Didn't think I would at first but it grew on me. At first mine fit really tight but after I opened it up the back end does sit up a little higher where you can get a finger under it. I haven't tried to see if you could tighten it anywhere to get that right fit back that will be my next project.

Has anyone seen a factory cover on the Long Bed trucks? I ordered on but it will be a wile before the truck gets here, also got information that 30% of the Gen 3's had to be sold with the cover in order for the Tacoma Truck line as a whole meet the 2016 Fed Cafe-a milage standards.

My factory Tonneau cover wasn't flush as well when I took delivery of my truck. I moved the bed rail tie down away from the locking mechanism on the last section of the cover and now it sits perfectly flush. I also picked up some of the Toyota mini tie downs because I like having the cargo net at that exact spot where the Tonneau locks. Problem solved, tight, flush fitting factory Tonneau cover, and might leak a few drops when it rains, but hardly at all. The rearmost section of the cover actually clicks twice; the initial click where it catches but still has play in it, then the second click that locks it snug. The tie downs were preventing this second click.

@Blek13 Did you compress past the first click? It has a two stage lock.

Yes, I did. I couldn't find any other adjustments. I sent an email along with pics to dealer..... I'll see what they have to say. Not impressed. It was raining hard and windy, but that much rain to get in is just not acceptable.

From your picture, I can see a speck of light in the top left. If the top can't be adjusted anymore, maybe you can get a piece of 3M foam to go in there to close the seal

Thats a bummer. It's been dumping for several days where I live and I just checked and only a few drops inside the bed. I wouldn't get my hopes up though going back to the dealer. The owners manual actually says it's technically not waterproof, and they'll probably side with the owners manual when you take it in.

Looks like you are missing the foam seal on the header end rails. Believe Toyota started adding them only recently to models with the tonneau. Part numbers 62541-04010 and 62542-04010

I think I have the foam seal on the header, but there are large voids in all 4 corners. You can see all the light that comes through.

I already broke part of my factory cover. Forgot to snap the clips in and it slammed closed on top of my big easy oil less fryer about 60mph. Cracked a portion of the cross bar.

I emailed the salesman with pics of water and where it's getting in. He emailed back and put me in touch with the service Dept. I just spoke to them. They are ordering me a brand new cover and installing it to alleviate the problem. Not all dealers are bad. Thumbs up to Hyannis toyota!!!
