Getting a permit means you don't have to worry about any of it :) I actually also have the Utah out-of-state permit, which gives me a few more states. I'm going after the Oregon out-of-state next, that one is hard(er) to get.

Another semi-random question... did you guys all do your CB installs yourself? Or is there a good local source for getting a good install and tuning?

Do it yourself. It's basic 12v setup. If your not electrical savvy then it's a good place to start. Just make sure to run dedicated fused power and ground. Don't tap off existing lines. Make sure your antenna is grounded well and spend 14 bucks on a tuning swr meter.

Electrics I'm fine with (I'm heavy into RC and have wired the hell out of my motorcycles), what I suck at is dealing with interior car panels, plastics, etc. I worry about the damage I'd do trying to run the wires so they're hidden away :-\

Exactly, that was point on my first comment. I have my Utah, Idaho, and Or also. If you call the Grant country sheriff and ask when or if they will be coming up here to process and interview for the OR permit, it might save you the trip down there to interview in person.

For the plastics removal, just look up YouTube videos on how to remove them with out breaking them.

Thinking LT, Kings, 35's, and some SCS to start.

Looking to start with suspension, then armor, rack and RTT, then gears and lockers.

Will do, I'm sure theres some shit I will run into.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
If you are wanting to play up here, LT isn't your best move. I would start with mid travel. Plus, with all the real armor you'll want, lt isn't any better for the weight. That's why most do tube bumpers.

I didn't realize that sheriff comes up, I was told I have to go down there, good to know! Also, grats on the Idaho permit! You're ahead of me :)

I used to have tables at the puyallup WAC show for years and stopped after I594 due to not being interested in turning it from a hobby to a taxed business. The OR liscence was offered once or twice a year at that show as long as you have paperwork to show your required classes to apply for it. Saved me the trip and might be worth looking into seeing if they will offer that again.

The law says nothing about locked cases so it still needs to be unloaded to be legal. But no one can look in the locked case unless you give them permission or they get a warrant.

9 RCW 41.60 Exceptions to the prohibition on carrying concealed pistols says nothing about vehicles so that's a grey area.

Good to know, thanks! I'm actually curious how much trouble getting the Idaho out-of-state permit was for you? I have a handout from the Utah class and Idaho seems like it could be tricky. Oregon I'm not too worried about with the Utah in hand.
