 Where are you headed? I'm probably headed to Oriflamme next weekend, assuming it's not completely washed out from the rains.

I have chosen to not make the assemblies with ARP studs because after careful research, if I replace the studs on the hub, then that voids the lifetime warranty by Dorman on their hubs. I do however tell my customers that if they want to install ARP studs in my assemblies, just let me know when you order my assemblies and I will remove all of the studs ahead of time to save time, and they can install the studs when the assemblies arrive.

Makes sense... Moves the failure point. And if I followed my own, current advice, I would have replaced these studs about 25,000 miles before this failure. [IMG] I do like the shouldered ones you offer.

Ok, here is the real ball. It was more for illustrative purposes. Our stock bumps in the rear compress down to less than 1/2" in real life. Hard to believe but true.

@Crom - what were you planning for skids? Vendor? I'm also intrigued by the UHMW Gas tank skid you mentioned.
@DoorDing went with Budbuilt aluminum skids and rerouted the exhaust crossover pipe. I'm looking for other ideas.

I run a set of Prinsu aluminum light duty skids, and like them a lot. Perfect for my needs.

Prinsu stopped offering the skids. They do appear to be nice skids though.

@HBMurphy thanks for the elaboration on the lugs. I didn't originally catch the hub centric vs. lug centric aspect of OEM vs. lots of aftermarket. I agree with your reasoning about lug centric potentially fatiguing the lugs more quickly. And I like the idea of using the wheel bearing servicing as a indicator to service the lugs. Great idea!

As to skids, I've got nearly a full set of RCI aluminum skids coming in a week or two. Need to get a crossover done soon. Will of course report on it in my build thread, but of course I don't have any others to compare to!

Another reason I am convinced OEM wheels are the best choice. I consider Matt to be a good friend and an excellent engineer. He designed the TRD 'beadlocks' that I like so much. :) I am honored to have his efforts on my truck. :)

If I didn't have to buy safety gear for the Parker race I would have a set of those wheels..

Thank you for this thread, loving every minute of it. Appreciate the time you spend for our enjoyment. Just as a side note another great book is "Where there are no Doctors". Field medicine at its best. Thank you again

    They're in hiatus.

The material for those skids needs to be CNCd, and the shop that was doing that work (I believe he was doing them himself at a previous employer) is no longer available.

So until he finds a reasonable CNC operator to cut them without charging a ransom, they're unfortunately down for the count.

He does have a couple long bed skids in stock, but the short bed skids are gone for now.

You can order the long bed skid and have it cut locally to fit the short bed crossmember, however.
