Definitely dated, like your thinking. I do notice how it never mentions any changes to how the engine runs or remapping, though. You still want to stick to your argument the engine mapping is changed with the ECT button? I mean, really, that is what this argument started with.

Has no one told @tacitos what ECT stands for? ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED TRANSMISSION.
and this is just true and necessary at this point

@tacitos You are like that guy in the shop for 40 years that still thinks like the day he started, aren't you. Then 10 years later you learned of something new, that is still 10 years too old. Keep researching, maybe like Toyota, someday you'll catch up to the modern times

So tell us master, what actual engine tuning experience do you have? What ECU's have you actually mapped based on your engine tunes? How much time have you spent on a real dyno?

This tread is fun to read. Do either of you even own a 2016?

You guys can battle all day long over this and will get no where.

Fact is the ect button does change the shift points. It also changes the throttle sensitivity as well. It's very noticeable also. How it does it really doesn't matter. If it changes the mapping who cares.

But when you use the ect the truck comes to life. With out it feels sluggish and has a dead no lie responsive pedal.

That's what I've been theorizing... But the 2nd gen troll keeps arguing without providing anything legitimate to back it.

I know I was reading it all.

I don't know exactly what is being changed with out having access to the computer data.

But hands down its making changes, throttle response and fuel delivery. Witch means mapping timing and injector pulse are all being altered.

Exactly, I've remapped both my bikes many times, lots of time on the dyno. Apparently it's never been done on a Tacoma ECU, something I'm looking into. So many things can be done in the ECU.

Your "legitimate" link that looks to be pre-OBD II, says nothing amount the ECT changing ANYTHING with the engine. It all points to the transmission shift points, which makes you "think" it has more power because it revs up more and operates in a different power band than you are use to.

I'm not looking to retune my truck. I'm just going to make it where the ect is on all the time till I press the button to turn it off.

Although it's Pre-OBD 2, it's still a legitimate Toyota tech document. Did you read the part about ECT interacting with the throttle position sensor and ECU? No, because your a moron. Again you fail to bring anything constructive to the conversation. Why don't you come back with some real data, then we can take you seriously.

I would like that too, but would also like to know more about controlling Atkinson and maybe tweak my target AFR's

Oh oh and I'm not sure who was saying what. But no fucking shit the lighter truck will have better 60 foot times in 1/4. But in the full 1/4 the gen 3 kills the 2nd

You must do A LOT of drugs when you think this crap up? that info is way outdated, even for toyota. That info was back when they were still trying to figure out how to control shit electronically. Now that would've had one controller to do everything, as most of the vehicle was still mechanically controlled with electronic monitoring, not truly electronically controlled. Wonder if the electronically controlled lifters back then?

Still trying to sound relevant? Do you even know how to work on engines or do you try and regurgitate information you read somewhere? Its pretty clear you are unable to follow a technical conversation, thread or read a technical document. Stop trying to pretend you know something and go learn something.
