There is no doubt a gamble with contracts that are long and large. What percent of theee contacts will be good value in there latter years? Likely none of them. GM's continue to have them written up though. Very few GM's have the balls to say no because the short term consequences of losing a marquis player can be detrimental if you believe you are a legitimate cup contender.
