Thank you. I'm a bodily injury claims adjuster. This is the same job, new location and instead on handling claims in MD, VA and DC, I'll be handling claims for NJ, PA, OH, and Montana. Currently working in central MD so it's not a long distance move (like in 1999 when I moved from Germany to Guam, LOL).

We have the States divided up according to both geography and the State's negligence laws. In Montana's case, no other States in their area have similar negligence laws so they put them with these three States. Makes up a very small portion of the claims I'll handle. Montana is a huge State but is very lightly populated... by humans. Plenty of buffalo and cows. :)

Interesting ... I'm intrigued by the all the different jobs going on out there.
So much going on that most of us never think about nor realize.
Those in the background that keep the world ticking. ;)
    Good luck !

Thanks, it's an interesting job, for sure. My favorite part is investigating the accident to determine which driver is at fault. My least favorite part is having to pay a car full of people faking neck and back pain from a tap on the bumper.

What's the fake to real pay out ratio?

Impossible to know for sure but I would estimate it to be around 25 percent of all injury claims are fakers. Of the 75 percent that are really hurt, probably about 1/4 of them over treat to drive up their claim. It varies by State, of course. I've been handling MD claims for 10 years and it's one of the worst States because of the liberal District Court judges and because it's one of the States that allows injured parties to collect under first party medical coverage and third party liability claims for the same medical bills. You read that right, they collect twice for the same bills.

No... not surprising at all. People are greedy and will do what the system allows them to do.

Yep, and until the system is fixed, everyone who pays premiums pays the price for the fakers and greedy ones.

I think I've only ever had two insurance claims in the 26 years I've been licensed to operate a motor vehicle.

Same here, and I've been driving for 38 years. Haven't had a claim in the last 13 years.

What would you say about my Friday drive home?Thinking of an accident I came upon today on the PA Turnpike! I wasn't the first on the scene, but , stopped within a few minutes of it. Single car , no snow, no rain, no sun glare. I came out the second tunnel heading eastbound. Highway turns hard left. Within 500 feet of coming out of the left turn. A camary went hard right into the guide rail. It was hanging precariously over a 100 foot drop! I pulled right over hoping to secure it to the rail that was undamaged with some shackles and toe straps! I also could have wrapped the frame with my winch rope! This is the hard part! The rail peeled back went right into the engine through the steering wheel and the drivers body. Without the rail holding the car in place it would have gone down 100 foot steep hill. The dad driving had a 4-5 year old daughter in a car seat passengers side rear who walked away without a scratch... but without her dad ! She called out for her daddy as she was taken up and over that rail to safety. I've been driving for 32 years now and have over 2 million miles behind the wheel. I've come upon many accidents in my life and I always try helping however I can. This one really affected me! Sorry if I offended anyone reading this. Always say I Love You as you part company with those you cherish! Tomorrow is not promised !
