Good to hear. I might order than one today. I don't want to delay getting emergency shit in the truck. Hell, I just put my jumper cables in there yesterday. And my bottle jack is stuck open. I've tried a few methods to get it closed, but it won't go. I might end up buying another, beefier one but who knows.

Well, not what I did today but recently, sold it..... Yup. The time came that I needed a larger vehicle. I wasn't scared of the mileage that was on my truck (212,000 at time of sale) as it is a solid truck. I informed the new owner of TacomaWorld's existence so a new member may pop up soon. Thank you all for the wealth of knowledge shared amongst the members on this site. Even though I'm not a Tacoma owner any longer, I stayed very close to the family. I scooped up a gently used 2004 Lexus LX470 with only 146K on the ticker. All I can say is WOW, what a difference in ride. I will hopefully continue with the modding tradition as $ permits (I modded the fogs on with brights the first day I owned it ) I've since joined the folks over at "IH8MUD" so I'm sure I'll stay broke just like over here...haha. I'm sure I'll still troll the pages as there are good peeps over here and a TON of great mod ideas.

Sad to see man and Taco part, but sometimes real life happens. Hopefully it ended up in good hands. That Lexus looks pretty good. It's like a fancy version of a 4Runner. I bet the ride is a lot smoother than the Tacoma was. Good luck, and enjoy!

It was a very hard decision to make but in the end.....it's a vehicle. The LX470 is the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser 100 series. It is A LOT smoother ride. My teeth no longer get jostled while cruising the backroads in my neck of the woods. With proper tires it's still very capable offload as well.

    Duh, Land Cruiser. My mistake.
It costs more, but a more luxurious offroad capable vehicle is admittedly quite nice.

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking. Land Cruisers and 4Runners are distinctly different.

You'll find that LCs are more expensive all around than Tacomas. Worth it though

Is this right next to the latch that holds the glovebox closed?

Yeah it's directly to the left of it. That metal part sticking out on the right of the image is the latch.

Good luck. If you can't quite see it, you can use a phone camera (that's what I did) or a mirror. To open the guard, you push the black tab at the back end of the gate towards the front of the truck. It's hinged and opens towards you.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
The little 4 ton hydraulic ones from Harbor Freight fit in the stock location for the bottle jack.

X2 ☺ I bought the Harbor Freight jack a couple of years ago when my stock jack got stuck. Tough and compact. Best of all it was less than $20. ☺

I installed a set of 04 mirrors I bought on Amazon. They vibrate a bit but I think it's more the truck than the mirrors. It took about five minutes to install them once I found some nuts. I changed the plugs and had a new set of ngk wires I also bought on Amazon but they were to damn short. image.jpg
