I debadged it, had to work a whole bunch and put on a K&N in time to deploy. Now my wife controls the money and hopefully I have enough when I get back to get her washed. Soooo... mods are in progress?
How is your TRD emblem holding up? I had mine on for about three months when I noticed it rusted all out. The emblem itself held up good, but the threads and washer/brackets rusted like crazy. I had mine on the opposite side as yours, it centers better on the faux mesh.

Had mine on 4 weeks now and it's rusting out. Can't imagine it will last long.

Well, at least now we know why it is only 7 bucks. I am going to make mine work again, when I get back, because like I said it is only rusting the hardware. Otherwise that things looks sharp.

I'm on my 2nd one. The bolts rust to shit but are still useable. The clear coat on the face of it started peeling so I just bought another.

I have a couple of the plastic sticker ones too. I may just try and fab a bracket for the back of one of those. In the grand scheme of things it has fallen off of my RADAR. I am going to have to get all creative on this one.

It's funny man- all the AmAzon reviews said same thing about the emblem. The brackes crappy and rust out. Had mine on for about 3 months - gonna add some wax to emblem. Thinking of adding some lube or Silicone Sealent to brackets - you think that will work? I have my TRD logo on same side as you.

Did you add clear coat? Doesn't seem like no one did- just wanting to check if I need to but clear as well. Seems the plasti dip will cover it? After seeing you did the TRD emblem- I might just do mine too! Looks good man!

The front doesn't get damaged at all in the time it takes the back to rust out. If you try to use a sealant, well then you have to thread a nut on there and ruin that.

I am going to try and rustoleum the brackets (they are just elongated washers) and look for brass threads. Brass will vertigri, but not rust. Either that, or hit up Lowe's or Home Depot and replace the treaded rod and nuts with stainless. The black is nice because it is concealed and blends in. I don't know, cheap product. I won't be back in the states for a good while. Let me know what you guys figure out, and I will play around when I get back too.

I didn't add any clear to the TRD emblem. I didn't dip the TRD emblem either. I bought the black one. After a little while the salt will eat away at the epoxy or clear coat on the front of it.

I found a black TRD logo- but it's the decal . Is that what you have on your grill? If so- how does the tape hold up on grill?

No, there is a metal one and a plastic one that are decals... and then there are the metal ones with the same hardware as the silver ones. The decal ones won't work on your grill. They do, however, look good on the tailgate. Buy your own 3M adhesive though, because the tape will not be centered properly and the back is hollow. It will take some fabrication.

Definitely paint it. Plasti dip has its place, but the finish is so so and its a temporary solution imo.

For paint... Sand it with like 220 grit, two coats of rustoleum gray primer, and then two or three coats of rustoleum black.

If you are worried about drips, be sure to keep the spray can about 12" away from the emblem, and make long sweeping paint passes back and forth, and be sure to start the pass off to the side of the emblem. And do light coats so you just barely cover the prior color. Let it dry, then do another coat. This is how I was taught, and it works well.

I recommend doing a YouTube search for auto painting and do your best to emulate their techniques.
