mine's tested and allegedly compatible. I mean, it works for the most part, just those two annoyances. not a deal breaker. I want a new phone with wireless charging anyway, it sucks not being able to take advantage of that convenient charging pad!

Yep just tested it with my cousins phone (LG G4) and it worked. So it's just my (HTC M8) that isn't yet compatible. The charging pad doesn't work with my phone either!

This is a duplicate post I made on another entune thread. Just wanted to paste it here because I think it's relevant and might be of some help.

I have an LG G3 that was originally running kitkat. I was delaying updating to lollipop due to some known changes/bugs in the newer OS that I wasn't eager to deal with. Was hoping T-mobile would push another update later so I could just skip 5.0 entirely. I was also having messaging app issues and a myriad of other little hickups like occasional connection drop or having to manually connect.

Well, as fate would have it, I recently updated a large number of apps on my phone at the same time, and suddenly my G3 would no longer stay connected to the head unit. It would repeatedly disconnect and reconnect to the rhythm of about once per second. I tried doing a factory reset and that didn't solve the problem. Discovered that if I dumped my phone's Bluetooth cache/data via the bluetooth app settings and then did a phone reset, it would remain connected, but only until I turned the truck or Bluetooth off. Had friends use their iphones to connect, and they had no connectivity issues at all. Frustrated and out of options, I just went ahead and updated to lollipop. Figured it couldn't hurt anything to try before I went out bought a new phone.

Sure enough, updating to lollipop fixed my connection issues, and SUDDENLY my messaging app loads every time without fail. If you're running an older version of android and running into problems, try updating the OS. Worth a shot.

Also the charging pad's performance seems hit or miss. Toyota put the minimum watt, single coil charger in that pad, and they could have done well by going with a high end triple coil 5 watt. On my phone, I get a "slow wireless charging" notification, but on my friends wireless enabled S6 it works full blast. I end up just charging mine via usb car charger just so I can get a faster charge anyway.

Just tap on the message and it'll read it out loud.

My phone (Droid Turbo) will connect and work fine until I do something other than listen to pandora via bluetooth. If I take a call then it will not reconnect and play audio. I have to disconnect bluetooth and reconnect in order to get it to play again.

    Any ideas?

I have a M8 as well and it doesn't work. I know your original post is a bit old and I think the list was updated in November but it does show our phones as being compatible.

    http://www.toyota.com/content/entune/pdf/EntunePhoneCompatibilityList.pdf

The odd part is when I traded my car in, the truck was due to arrive soon so I requested a rental so I wouldn't put too many miles on my trade-in. The rental was a Corolla with Entune and worked flawlessly with my phone. Granted it was a lower end version and I have the Premium JBL but surely if it works with the lower end, it should have no issues with the higher end.

I have the M8 and entune mostly works for me (have trouble with messaging, but also haven't really taken the time to try and set it up) but phone works fine, and Pandora works, sort of. When running Pandora and I turn my truck off, when I come back, Pandora does not want to start correctly. Its annoying, but I mostly just listen to my Ipod anyways

Edit: as far as wireless charging goes: the M8 does not support wireless charging, so your truck would not charge it

Yeah, it's only the messaging that seems to not want to work properly. Like others have said, not a huge deal but would be cool to have.

The messaging function is really annoying! There are 15 "quick messages" which the system will recognize by voice, but it will only allow me to respond via quick message. Why Toyota... why???

I have the HTC M8 also, my truck won't even notify me if I get a message. My phone says I'm allowing messages to Bluetooth to the truck, but nothing goes through. I guess it's one less distraction while driving, but I want it to work! Haha

Yeah. On their website it shows the M8 as not tested with the Tacoma. Though it works on the camry.

I also have an M8. When I first got the truck, the voice would come on when I received a message and ask me if I wanted to read it. Then it would read it to me and ask if I wanted to reply. I could dictate a reply and it would send out a response text.

That quit working, however, after I upgraded my phone to Windows 10. Based upon a post earlier in this thread, i deleted my message history ( I had several hundred in there), and tomorrow I'll test whether it was just a matter of too many texts stoed on the phone.

Ad far as the Qi charging, you can buy a small plastic antenna that plugs into the charging port of the phone. It lays along the back of the phone, but you need a sleeve of some kind to hold it in place. I bought one of those when the phone was new, but I could not get it to work, so I threw it away (it was only $5). Since then, I've seen other testimonials that give the setup good reviews, so I'm considering giving it another try, since the truck has a Qi charger built in. Here's a link for more info:

The Qi charging is a hardware function. The OS is immaterial. There is no software involved.

I'm talking about for the texting, not Qi. You said you had just upgraded to windows 10. I'm assuming only the android operating system isn't compatible on the M8.

The problem for me was emojis (NOT emoticons). Delete any messages that have emojis (not the text based emoticons, those are are OK) and your messages should load. Worked for me.

Also note that if someone sends you a text with emojis, it won't be recognized or available for voice reading.

[EDIT] Update: This appears to only happen with LG phones.
