I'm having the same problem too, I haven't spoken to the dealer about it yet. I hope they don't "brush" it off and actually fix the problem.

Picture as requested. It's basically a black gob of whatever. I didn't ask exactly what they used.

There is a good chance that's all it is. I did have a new windshield replaced the same day but regardless, it's holding good so far. The stuff the factory uses is likely the exact same thing but painted over so we can't really tell.

Some grey adhesive used on mine and they colored it in with Toyota Quicksand 4V6 touch up paint it's been almost a month since it was done, holding up just fine 20160113_151902.jpg

Has this only been a problem with the flat hood or is it an issue with Sport hoods also?

Thank you very much Wraith600, you are the man. I agreed with other members. It looks like urethane to me. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I too used the flexible 2-part urethane adhesive (3M NVH Dampening Material part# 04274) to fix the flexing problem with my hood. Thanks again Wraith60 for taking the time uploading the picture.

Does the 2016 still utilize the 2nd gen method of checking your transmission fluid?

0uTkAsT (Josh) - I read almost all of your messages regarding this issue and could feel your "pain" in them. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding the 3M NVH 04274 product or anything I can do to help. My hood is now solid like a rock. Good luck!

Picked up my SR5 from the Body shop yesterday. Hood is not flexing anymore. Took her over a bunch of bumps and over 70 mph on the highway. I didn't notice any moving or vibrating.
They really made a point to fill the crap out of the extra space. I also wasn't expecting them to match the color.

Have not had a chance to look under the hood of my SR5 to see if I have any problems with my adhesive. Are you all hearing a vibrating noise while driving, or just seeing really bad vibrations? When driving I can notice a very very slight vibration, but nothing that looks out of the ordinary. Don't hear any vibrating at all.

I agree with you. It would be nice if Toyota put out a legit fix that everyone had to follow. Instead of shops just inventing something.

I never heard any noise or felt vibrating. It was all visual. You can tell its not normal the hood to be flexing up and down while doing 50 to 60 mph. Hitting bumps it would cause it to flex rapidly. Check under the hood and you can instantly tell something is wrong.

Paul (2016Tacoma) and Chris (TheFlash121) thank you so much for posting pictures with your successful repairs.
You guys have given more useful info in a few posts than Toyota has given me since I purchased my Tacoma this past October.

I'm going to buy some NVH 3m dampening material and some touch up paint and fix this issue for good. I'm 99% confident I can do a better job than the dealership can. It sucks I have to pay for it but I'm confident I'll be happy with the repair.

Paul how much of that NVH 3m stuff do I need? Can I get by with one tube??

This might prove helpful to those of you having the Hood Vibration Problem. It isn't a Tacoma, but the directions should be about the same. It appears that to make the repair correctly it is going to take a bit of planning and then care in applying the 3M dampening material.

My wife's wife's late 2015 Tacoma Off Road has the adhesive problem but no noticeable vibration at any speed. I'm following this thread to see if Toyota comes up with a fix. The service manager at my dealership has not had this problem reported to him. Well, I reported it to him and have it documented for our 2015. By the way, neither our 2005 Tacoma nor 2012 Tacoma had this problem. I know this for sure because I had to have PDR work done on both of their hoods and checked out the repairs very carefully.

1/15/16 New update to the saga. Got a call a few minutes ago and was told the truck was done at the Body shop. The hood was replaced but are now waiting for the decal/sticker for under the hood and do I want to drive the 50 miles to come and get and coma back Monday to replace the decal/sticker. I opted to keep the rental till Monday and wait for the truck to be completed. I sure hope the new hood does not happen to get the separation like the first hood. This is going to be one healthy warranty claim. On a good note, the dealership new car dept. is installing a clear bra at no charge to me. This was after I demanded for it to be done.

    Tacoma_Jake,
You are welcome. In my case, I needed two (2) tubes. The first one was used to replace all detached sealant spots. The second one was used to fill in the gaps between the hood frame and the underside of the hood skin between the original sealant spots.

    Josh (0uTkAsT),
Go back to page 23 of this thread and you will find the same document I uploaded back on 12/31/2015 (www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hood-vibrating.402060/page-23)
I followed most of the instructions in this document to solve the flexing problem with my hood.

Anyone with a later build date? Has this issue been fixed now? Or was it random in the first place and not all early builds are prone to the adhesive separation?

Update: My hood is still good and holding. Getting breakfast this morning I noticed that I can't use the windshield fluid sprayer. Nothing comes out. I can hear the motor turning. Looks like someone messed up re-attaching the tubes. I checked really quick and didn't noticed anything obvious. I might try to fixit myself or just wait the 300 miles for the first service and let them do it.
