That sounds like a perfect plan! Stick to a soap without "wax" in it if you can, such as Megs gold class soap (gold in color). Good stuff. Leaves paint feeling awesome. But if you already purchased a "wash and wax" product, no biggie. Use it.

I think you'll be fine with just a clay job and re-app of Collinite. Use PLENTY of lube. I usually use half a bottle of detail spray at minimum when claying. Helps to avoid micromarring of paint.

The other products I mentioned above are all quality products and serve as alternate options if you don't get the water spots out with just a clay job. Any questions, I'm happy to help. dont be shy.

 

Even if you think it's clean- you still want to wash before claying. Just so you don't have any small particle get stuck in the clay and cause scratches. If you drop the clay- throw it away and start with a new piece

 

Something else to mention- many people are afraid to "polish" a new vehicle or think it doesn't need it. But there can actually be a lot of contaminants on a new vehicle- rail dust from transport, paint overspray, hiway grime, etc. Nothing wrong with claying and/or using a light polish/AIO before sealing up your new vehicle.

 

Hey Ace- did you see that a new version of gloss coat is coming out? I think that's maybe why AG has had it on sale.

 

Hi guys, I was amazed when I saw this thread about Collinite because I grew up in Utica NY where it's made. I know at one time Rolls Royce recomended it to there customers but that was years ago. Invented by Mr Collins but has been in the Taylor family for years. Any questions I am sure I can get ya a direct link. super nice people. When I am down that way again I will stop in and show them this site and thread and see if he can do a deal for us.

This is very cool! I have a question if you happen to run into someone "in the know". They market the 476/845 as "waxes". But under optimal conditions, their longevity approaches that of synthetic polymer paint sealers. There's just something I like about sealers, especially in summer heat. If I knew that these Collinite products really were "hybrids", for lack of a better word, I'd be more apt to use them through the summer months, instead of switching to a dedicated sealer.

In any case, they're awesome products. I've got some incredible reflections after this last "winter coat" of 476.
