Thats total BS crap. The recall letter says they'll fix it if they break before the recall remedy is released. Call another dealer, they need to fix them for free.

I don't trust Toyota's solution anyway. One pallet of sod brings my rear down to the bump stops. I'm getting Dakar.

Went to my local toyota service center April 2015. Middle leaf on the driver side was fractured and poking out about 1/4 inch. They inspected it and said the frame qualifies for replacement and the leafs need to be replaced as well, BUT, ill have to wait as parts are not available as yet I was sent on my way and assured the truck is safe to drive in the mean time. Made another call in june, then july and was told again parts are on order I just have to be patient.

September rolls around, i'm hearing a lot of metal banging in the rear. Take a look, passenger and drivers side springs are are fractured and sticking out much more than 1/4inch now. Passenger side broken leaf was maybe 1/4inch away from rubbing on a brake line. Make a call to my toyota service center that day, same nonsense the parts aren't in they cant do anything, regardless of what the recall notice says about them having to provide a remedy in the event that a spring breaks and comes loose. Sent an email to Toyota Corporate Customer Service that night.

Anyway ended up on wheeler's to get a pair of 3 leafer's and had a local mech install them for me the same day they came in, I was interviewing for new jobs and needed my vehicle road ready and i wasnt feeling to safe driving around on busted springs. I get a follow up with Toyota Corporate asking about my problem etc etc. They said the frame is on order and should be arriving soon. I get a call from my local toyota service center on 10/19/15 saying the frame is in bring the truck ASAP. I dropped the truck off 10/20 and picked it up this afternoon (10/22). Brand new frame, dont think its treated with any sort of rust prevention. They also took off the 3pack leafers from wheelers and put on oem toyota, what looks to be 4pack, leafers.

So yeah, thats been my experience with this whole leaf and frame recall. Also 4WD High and 4WL seem to be engaging fine, that seems to be the most popular issue after frame replacement. Ill give the truck another once over in the morning to check for any other issues that might be present.

    tl;dr
Played the waiting game from April to October to end up with a new frame and leafs.

Well, Toyota denied my claim. They said because leafs were not broken, only sagging, they will not warranty. Even though they fall under the recall, they have to be broken before Toyota will do anything. frustrating.

I've had two leafs fail on me, both at separate times, as well as both add-a-leafs I got from toytec. And ya I had to pay to get the OEM leafs replaced by a different shop because the leafs have been back ordered for 7 months now and my dealer won't install non-OEM parts. Waiting for the recall to submit receipts... just the fact they won't fix my problem because they can't get the OEM parts really pissed me off!!

Frame passed inspection so they did an undercoating to the frame at no charge.

And Toytec wouldn't replace them but instead of refunding me my money they gave a credit to the 2koolperformance (had to order third party because I live in canada). And 2kool won't let me us the credit unless I spend a min of $300! BS! FU 2kool!!

Should I just go aftermarket leaf pack? was thinking airbags but heard they don't hold up to the salt or -45C weather...?

I've got an 09 with Add A Leaf, no problem yet and I load the crap outta my truck, think Toyota will replace my stock leafs anyways, even though I've modified it

Anyone in Canada getting any results? I've had the truck in the local shop to get pictures taken and thats been it. I've called and sent emails and still nothing. I have 2 broken on right side and one on the left side. On the right side the ones that have snapped have even fallen out, and just aren't there except for the middle of them. What years are getting frames replaced? Mines an 09 but it's looking pretty rusty under there.

Anyone hear anything recently for any dealers? I talked to my local dealer last month, the guy said the frame recall ends spring of 2016 and that he believes shortly after that ends the leaf srings should go into open recall. He said he believes they will be replacing ALL 05-10 4×4 and pre runner rear leafs. I wanted to get mine done now, due to axle wrap when accelerating, he said that unfortunently they need to be broken to do the recall early.

I finally had mine replaced last week. I had 2 springs on one side completely missing, and 2 cracked on the other side. They changed both leaf packs and all is well now. I still don't know if it's the new parts or the old that they put on. I googled the part number and I had a lot of results from Toyota stores online.

Just noticed my drivers side leaf is broken so I get to drop my truck Tuesday and get a loaner till my frame comes in. Apparently since they already had my order in for the frame which comes with new springs they won't repair it till then. Oh and my frame may not be in for 5-6 months

One broken spring isn't too bad. More than one on one side is when I started to worry and only drove the truck to work and back, about 4 kms. I found Toyota was very slow.

What? You replaced springs that fall under the recall, but they wont reimburse because one wasn't snapped??

That's bordering on hard to believe. So, if you snap a spring or crash and burn, your good? If your tired of waiting, tough shit.

what's even more maddening is that this thread & others are full of people who have had the exact same experience.

Well I finally recived the notice to replace the leaf springs (only 2 plus years after the original notice). Job is done but they fought me tooth and nail over getting a loaner vehicle for the day. The dealer finally caved but, no loaner for a factory recall?!? That's baffling !!!

Dealer called me today to say the springs are in. I asked if these were a total replacement or "parts".
Advisor told me these will be all new springs on it. Also said it is a few hour job. I use the dealer my parent use, its a 3 hour drive so I'll spend the night and have my mom run me to the dealer.

Get this done and its going up for sale.

I called the dealer last year thinking they had a fix for the leaf springs, but all they did was fix the other 3 recalls. I really want Old Man Emu leaf springs anyways. There was statement on the original recall letter about being reimbursed for aftermarket springs, but I cannot find that info. Can anyone help? or maybe I should hold out a few more weeks, lol or months
