Craftsman 3 ton floor jack

Hey guys...just picked up a Craftsman 3 ton floor jack Model number 875.501390 (came with 2 stands and a creeper). My question is there's a orange rubber knob under where the handle attaches to the jack that says "do not adjust". There's no mention of this knob in the instructions... anyone know what the purpose of this orange knob is? Thanks in advance for any help you can share.

 

Pretty sure it's for the rate of oil exchange between cylinders.

aka dampening.

 

You know I saw it too. I picked one up at Sears today for $74.99. What a steal. That's half off! I didn't finish reading up on the instructions, but could it be where the oil is inserted? That's my guess.

 

The oil is added through a hole that's covered with a black rubber plug. If you raise the jack handle straight up it's underneth on a cylinder. Be advised the black plug is a real pita to get back in. Before I put on my glasses and was able to read the "do not adjust" on the orange plug I had turned it a bunch of times wondering what the hell it was for...opps! Anyway, after spending the next hour trying to get the jack to work, ended up going back to Sears to try to get some questions answered. They didn't have a clue and said to bring it back for an exchange. Waiting for one to get shipped in a couple weeks. How is yours working out?

 

I was going to get that set... but was told the creeper is too tall and to just wait for the stands and jack to go on sale by themselves.

 

Im loving it! Yeah, I agree the creeper is a little tall, but good enough for the Tacoma. I tried it out already and telling everyone about the great deal. That thing was heavy as F***. I can't get over the price. It was cheaper than the Brand Walmart has in stock. You can't go wrong. I made some space in the garage for it. It's all alone against the wall where I can see it all the time. My new black beauty. Haha.
