    Washer was on right with the bevel down and I tightened the ground wire. Hopefully that helps. Idk if I need a cap for my antenna to tune it or what. Then also with pulling the coax through the floor and through zip ties I hope it wasn't damaged

    My brain isn't up to operating temperature yet so I can't decide if you were just being nitpicky with Travis's words, lol, so I'm going to just respond if as if you weren't...

    All the instructions I've read say the cap has to be on to run the SWR checks. Of course, you remove it to make adjustments, but you put it back on before you check the SWRs again.

    @TAZ2014Taco now that you know you're nylon washer is in the right position and you're ground is good, now it's time to suspect your coax. It's too bad you live so far from me or I'd just say come over and I'd but my multimeter on it to check it for sure. I forget where you said you worked, but if it's close to north Tampa, the offer stands if you aren't too far and want to come over after work in the morning. :thumbsup: (I even have a little tuning spot just down the road that's not ideal but it's convenient, lol.)

    So I called Amazon and they refunded all of my money. I tested continuity with my multimeter and ground and everything looks good .002 was the result. I called firestik and they said it can't get an accurate SWR test without the tip on.

    I dunno what kind of multimeter you have, so this may or may not work for you. My multimeter has a continuity test function, which is the setting I would use for this.

    1) With both ends of the coax unplugged, do a continuity test between the center post and the outer shell that screws on to the antenna or radio, depending on which end you're testing on. There should be no continuity between them. If there is, the the coax is bad.

    2) Check the continuity between the center post on one end and the center post on the other. There should be continuity here. If there isn't then the coax is bad.

    3) Check the continuity between the outer screw-on shell on one end of the coax with the screw-on shell with the other end. There should be continuity here. If there isn't then the coax is bad.

    4) Check for continuity between the metal stud your antenna screws into with the metal male threaded end that your coax screws onto. There should be no continuity here. If there is, then either that nylon washer is not doing it's job, or your antenna stud is bad.

    5) Screw the antenna end of the coax in and on the radio end, repeat the first check. There should still be no continuity. If there is, then either your coax is bad, or the antenna stud is, but I would suspect the coax first.

    Yeah, but there's degrees of accuracy. I don't think not having the tip on is going to peg the meter into the red on both channels like it was doing. It would probably just skew the readings a little.

    If you got no continuity on test #2 then the coax is bad and you found the problem. :thumbsup:

    I do remember neither Travis or John had their caps on, may have something to do with it but sounds like Travis has bigger problems.

    Okay. The only other thing I can think of is to find a good, known ground (clip a wire to your negative battery terminal of you have to, but bare metal somewhere like on your hitch or the ground terminal on your 7 pin should work) and test for continuity between there and the antenna mounting bracket. If there is then your ground should be good and I'm out of ideas, lol.
