What are these for ?

Can anyone tell me where is Class 4 TOW Hitch that came with TRD Off Road Package on my truck and what are these two holes for ?

 

all i know is dont try to pull anyone out with it lol itll bend ...

 

yah there for saftey chains when towing a trailor

This is my first truck and I am un fimiliar with a lot of stuff on it. How can I pull someone from behind ?

Also if you look ay my spec sheet, it says I have class 4 TOW hitch, where is this hitch located ? I still have lofs of other questions lol.

 

your hitch is the assembly you already circled. Here is a pic of what a hitch looks like without the truck...Note: this may not be exactly like yours but you get the picture.

Now you need a hitch ball mount and hitch ball:

 

Pull the rubber plug with the Toyota emblem out!

 

Ha Ha, yeah. You should also tear off the dealers sticker their on the lower left. No sense in giving them advertising that you probably paid for. Do it before it "sets in"

Don't use the holes on the side of the receiver to pull someone. If you want to pull someone safely you'll need a hook to go into the reciever. As someone stated earlier the holes are designed for safety chains. You are supposed to cross the chains under the tongue of the trailer so that if the trailer detaches itself from the ball it's still going to be attached to your truck until you pull off to the side of the road.

 

Here's the tow hook that goes into the reciever.

Also only use it for recovery, not on the road.

 

For typical trailers you insert the hitch and ball into the reciever. Depending on your trailer you need the right drop or rise on the hitch and the correct size ball to fit the coupler on the trailer.

 

Quick way to screw up a hitch! Those are for safety chains

That's a good idea. I didn't know they made those. The thing I could think of that could be wrong with it is if you need a drop or rise.

 

Yeah...I would listen to everyone else. The rubber plug covers up the hitch receiver and the two oval holes are there to attach safety chains to protect your trailer, your haul, and everyone on the road behind you.
