Mine sure did. The truck will actually run 6th gear now and it doesn't hunt nearly like it used to. When it does it's usually 6 to 5 (instead of 6 to 5 to 4 then staying in 4 or 5 forever). It feels like a completely different truck to me after 3000-3500 miles.

Please accept my apologies. I'm usually not a crabby SOB :p

I like watching these threads because I am having a tough time deciding 2nd or 3rd gen.
Both are new but the 2nd gen is nearly 10k less :S

You really can't go wrong either way. I've had both and both have been awesome trucks. There are some things I liked better about the second gen but im very happy with my third gen.

Are there still new 2nd gens for sale in your area? Think about resale also. Whether you keep the truck for 5 years, or 15 years, the 3rd gen will have a little better resale. It might not be worth the 10k difference now, but driving an update truck (tech and style wise) may make up for the rest of that 10k difference

One of the perks of working like 1.5 miles from my house. It's a short drive. lol

That would bother me as the truck does not have time to fully reach temps and hold them awhile. I don't have a commute so I take the truck when I have more than on stop to make. Then there is the MX 5 I have not driven much since getting the Tacoma. It's on a battery tender.

Resale is in my mind too.

Quite a few 2nd gens for sale actually. 7 2015 TRD sport premium and 5 SR5's. All v6's, Double cab long box.

I have it in my head the 2nd gen is more 'proven' and issues are identified..

    ...However ...

After driving a 3rd gen.. Fit and finish is on another level.

I drive mine around town to bring the temp up to normal operating temp before I stop at Walmart or the laundry mat which is 7 blocks away. Should of done that with my 2003 Dakota and I probably would still be driving it. It only had 43,000 miles when I traded it in.

Good resale begins with a substantial discount of the buy price.

I think good resale starts with buying a Tacoma. Period. I was looking at 2013-2015 Tacomas with about 30,000 miles on them before I bought my new one and they were selling for $32,000, similarly equipped as my 2016 which I paid $35,000 for.

Yep same here. I figured why buy a used one when I can buy a new one for only slightly more, get exactly what I want and know its been taken care of.

That's my problem too. A used Tacoma is usually within $1-3k of a brand new one. Would rather have a full powertrain warranty for a little extra money.

I found the same thing when I went to buy mine. A few places were asking the SAME price for the 2015 as for the 2016, and a few used with 30,000 miles on the 2015 for a few thousand dollars less; so I opted for the newer year.
