About to order one as I am tired of things sliding around, especially with the shell on it makes it more difficult to retrieve items.

How durable are these things? I would be putting a mountain bike in the back repeatedly, different types of bags etc etc. Wouldn't be anything too "rough", just wondering if these mats are built for it.

I don't own one but from what I've gathered they're like horse stall mats. If a horse can walk around on it all day I think you'll be hard pressed to tear it up with a bike.

I haven't managed to damage mine yet, and that's hauling a few cab-height loads of firewood, a 45gal barrel full of fuel... You'll be fine.

I got a good deal on mine from camelback toyota. Don't know what it would take to damage it. Have loaded snow blowers, bikes and boats on it and haven't even scratched it.

Gravel, sod, mud, dirt, machinery here. Banged up my bed but the mat is flawless. It sure can take a beating.

Well worth the money! Mine takes firewood and gravel with no problems whatsoever.

You'll have no problem at all with what you described. Mine is holding up great after much more abuse.

Gotten stuck a few times and loaded the back up with a couple hundred lbs of jagged rocks for ballast.... always thrown em in and then tackled hills and never a tear or gouge. Also hauled over a ton of pavers in the bed with zero issues..... yes the truck was grossly overloaded but it worked and I wasnt aware the weight till afterwards

I actually bought a horse stall mat and trimmed it to fit. WAY more heavy duty than the OEM, (actually overkill), but only cost me $30.

I have hauled bricks, old paneling, dry wall, rod iron and all kinds of other garbage. It has held up great and I thinks it's a worth while investment. Plus if you get any type of liquids in the bed it allows stuff to sit on top of the mat without getting wet.

Go to tractor supply and get them to cut a section of rubber mat for you. Trim to fit your bed. Paid $30 and 10 mins to cut. Just a durable as OEM, if not better.

I've had mine for five years now I took it out of my trade in and put it in the third gen. I've had all manner of things back there from construction materials to cow shit. I love it

Had a Tacoma mat in my wife's 2005 regular cab. Left it in the truck in great shape when we traded for a 2011 double cab short box. Immediately put a Tacoma mat in her 2011. Moved this mat into her 2015 double cab when we traded. It's the best option that you can add to your Tacoma.

If they made their weather proof floor mats out of the same durability material (just not as heavy) I'd wager they'd sell like hotcakes.

Have had my OEM mat for over 3 years now and no issues. Its got some sort of fiber reinforcement in it. I've cut through it to make room for some tie downs and its pretty heavy duty. Only difference between OEM mat and a horse stall mat from your local hardware store is thickness and of course the OEM mat has the "Tacoma" text on it. OEM mat might be a bit better for a custom fit unless you can find a horse stall mat wide enough.
