Has anyone attempted to convert the passenger side exterior door handle to a touch sensitive one like on the drivers side? This is about the dumbest thing an OEM could do. You cant easily enter the vehicle from the right side without reaching for the fob.
It seems you could buy another left handle and flip it over and wire it up if thats possible. If anyone has a diagram of the wiring as to where to tap into, that would be awesome. Im going to put this on my list to do.

Does the Limited have one on the pass side? If not, do any other Toyotas share the same door handle? Otherwise it isn't going to be easy.

I have a Lexus with dual handle controls but the lever is a different size. Im guessing it can be done but since toyota doesnt sell factory mans its going to be a lot of research. But if its an ECM reprogramming may never get it done.

You could only splice into the drivers side wiring and have it set to open all 4 doors when unlocking. It would essentially have 2 drivers side handles.

You would also have to see if the handle could be flipped which I doubt would work. The sensor is built into the handle.

You can change the settings to unlock all doors with the touch of the drivers door.

The handles on my 2015 Lexus GS "look" to be a perfect match.

Thats the premise, so I could just touch either handle to open either door. The sensor strip is on both the top and bottom of the door handle so I think it could work if able to get it to communicate with the system. May have an upside down keyhole but who uses keys anymore lol.
I have mine set to that already, but sometimes I have 2 dogs and groceries to put in the right side or backseat and it sure would be nice to not have to look for the fob, thats the only reason I thought of trying to do this.

My IS are a tad bit smaller, basically the toyota and Lexus are the same family, so Im thinking somewhere there may be some similarities.

That won't work. Each receiver has an ID number. As soon as you tied in 2, he system would just shut down.

It is a safety issue. It will allow someone to open the passenger door once you were close enough to the driver's side with your FOB.

Cars with multiple touch handle have to have the fob within X inches of that handle.

I really wish they would have set this up as they did with my 2015 Lexus where touching the driver's side front door handle opens that door only and there is also a sensor on the left side passenger door which, when touched, opens all four doors simultaneously.

Might be appropriate since the Tacoma V6 is apparently a Lexus engine.

How do you change it to open all four doors by touching the driver side handle?

Dunno if it helps, but my 2010 RAV4 can unlock the door by touching the handle from both the driver and passenger doors, along with the rear door. It's a slightly different handle, with the rubber lock button, and not just the "lines".

And yet my daughter's Focus works that way for 10 grand less than I paid for the Tacoma. So does my Mustang that cost only a little more. It wouldn't have cost that much to add a pass side keyless handle. I'd trade the AC power port for it and they would have been money ahead.

It shouldn't let someone open the passenger door. It wouldn't work on my Lexus at least. My Lexus had the sensors on all the doors and when someone tried to open the passenger door when I was at the drivers side door it wouldn't work.

this is the kind of feature that gets added to future models. Manufacturers are not gonna release every feature on the first model, they want to give you a reason to come back and buy a new one. I had (3) different 2nd gen X5's, each one had more and more features like these added as the model progressed. Another reason I like to lease, I get a new and improved vehicle every 3 years and my payments get a little lower each time.
