Wheelers Off-Road Bumpstops: Who's got them?

Timbrens are about 350-400 for the front and rear setup...

Wheelers has a set for $175: Who has them on and has some feedback they would like to report with?

I have them in the front and like jhodge said I know they have hit before but I never even noticed it. I will say they are very soft and way better than stock but I have never had or seen a set of timbrens so I don't know how they would compare. I would recommend them and I will be getting the rear set when I save up some more money.

 

just installed Wheelers Superbumps on the front. For the install the supplied allen key was too long to get it to fit between the lower arm and into the bumpstop to tighten the bolt. I cut the Allen key shorter to fit. Also use locktite on the threads to secure the bolt from loosening under vibration. Tested the bump stops after at a neighbourhood large pothole at 40km/hr. YES, much better. A hit on stock bumpstops is a sudden jarring, that makes you think you hit metal on metal. With the new Superbumps, there is no jarring at all, makes you think you didn't even bottom out.

 

I had to do the exact same thing.

It is, but the short end is too short and the long end is too long and causes the wrench to hit the LCA. So I cut about 1/2" off of the long end & it worked great.


I have had these "Super Bumps for about 1 year. I really love them but after a while I noticed a problem. The bumps compress more than the stock bumps and on hard hits my UCA hits the top of the inner fender wheel well. To fix this I stacked two, 1/4" thick steel washers under the bumps.

Cant wait to get these on. Mounted the rears to the Toytec U-bolt flip plates today via a tap & 3/8" fastener. Waiting on the Dakars to arrive now... pics of install to come.

 

Installed Superbumpers all the way around... Ride feels great. This is my rear setup.

I've been hunting this sound down for 6 months..... Why does the stock bump stock sound like metal on metal I wonder?

Going to try the wheelers out right away.. In that video above they look excellent.

 

I highly recommend them. Softer than stock upon impact, they do compress, and they don't jarrrrr when the rear hit them. I have a front set on the rear with an all pro ubolt flip kit and wheelers 3 leaf aal.

You got any pics of your rear setup?

I am in the process of mounting the rears and I am trying to figure out how tall of an adapter to make. I have the exact same rear configuration of ubolt flip and wheelers 3 leaf AAL. The normal wheelers mount look like it is way too tall and would unnecessarily limit travel. Any experiences you want to share would be appreciated.

I am leaning towards a 3/4" tall puck/adapter.

ETA: Here's my adapter, I wil install them tomorrow when my stainless fasteners show up.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but here ya go; disregard how dirty my truck is, I just got back from KOH and haven't cleaned it yet.

After the week in the dessert, I am going to have to rethink my entire rear suspension. I have 6112's (at 3rd setting) in the front with superbumps and 5160's rear with wheelers 3 leaf AAL. The front is absolutely amazing in the bumps and I couldn't be happier. The rear on the other hand still hits the bumps. FWIW, I do not blame the bumps at all, they work amazing. I think the rear springs are woefully inadequate as is the wheel travel. I have about 5" of uptravel before the superbumps are fully compressed and I was still hitting them frequently. I'm not sure where I am going to start making changes first; either new springs/shocks or hydraulic bumps.

 

You posted right as I was uploading pics.

If you have any suggestions based off of what I said above about still bottoming, I am all ears.

 

@Lostsheep did you verify that the shocks were not bottoming out?
