I cut the cable, got the $14.99 innerweb package, which is $22 after fees, which streams, Netflix and the like just fine...
Got those paper thin antennas which work just fine...
Innerweb + Netflix and I'm done

 

I've hooked my grandparents and in laws up with the same situations. I'm not far behind in joining them

 

They are trying to blame WRAL but I won't believe that directv, a billion $ company, can't afford to broadcast those channels. Especially when they are completely free per the airwaves. I've got antennas too so I can still watch those, but I like having the DVR since I very rarely watch a show when it actually airs. I'll be calling these fools tomorrow for sure

 

NBC & CBS are swapping affiliates ... No need for DVR, most shows air in a few days on share.TV and the like..

 

I also use Chromecast

 

yeah i just got off the phone with them... of course they are trying to blame the channel. but i can guarantee you that people will blame them and they will loose a TON of customers in this area if they dont get those channels back on bye saturday. Im making an appt for saturday for uverse install.. will cancel if they fix it. I personally hate directv. shit goes out every time it storms. but they have me by the balls with the sunday ticket. I'm a niners fan and its the only way to see my games live. pisses me off.

 

I use couchtuner.eu for HBO and shows on those networks. Pretty similar to sharetv I think

They didn't do shit.. just gave me the same BS. "the channel is trying to raise their rates and we want to keep the same low price for our customer, call the station and complain" fuck them. ill cancel their shit... Damn Seachickens!

 

Yup - I just called too. They pissed me off enough to cancel outright. I put effective date Feb 1. to give them a few days to call and try and woo me back but if they don't I may call back and beg for forgiveness

I only lasted an hour before I gave in and called back. I got some lady who should moonlight as one of those sexphone workers. She had a voice that could've made me buy anything...

Anyway, I resisted temptation (seriously, she even offered me 3 months free of the Playboy channel ) but did end the call on a good note. I first had her cancel my premature cancel of the service and she tacked on some free HDxtra package that has like 8 movie channels for free for 3 months, they also gave me 2 months free of Showtime. Pretty happy so far. She then spent like 20 minutes trying to see if I had any channels I wasn't watching to cut but we couldn't come up with any so she told me she would cut me a deal on the Sunday ticket for the 2016 season. It's regular price is $359/yr and she gave it to me for $159/yr in 8 19.99 payments. Pretty excited about that, as I was probably going to wait until week 1 and try and talk them down since they usually do a 'special' deal during the 'free preview' in week 1 but I doubt it's anywhere near 50% off. Anyway - if you end up keeping them despite this WRAL shutdown (she said they were working hard on a resolution. I believed her, well her voice anyway, It was like ScarJo in 'Her') you should ask them about that deal and see if they will give you the 2016 season too.
