My bet - The Tacoma will not become more capable offroad, it will not get a diesel, it will get bigger, its load capacity will be decreased, and it will ride even more like a passenger car. In the year 2045 they will solve the frame rust issue.

Write it down folks. You saw it written here first.

I doubt they will make any drastic changes, probably just some convenience or accessory package stuff. Power Heated Seats and Steering Wheel and maybe a Manual Trans ORAC option.

Agreed. The only survey crap that actually pays is Google Rewards.

    Spoiler Alert!!!!
    Oh, and I pledged too....

2.4 i4 turbo or 3.1 diesel both with 10 sp trans (do I really need 10?!)
    Washout floor option (maybe)
    No more bed inverter (meh)
No manual trans option (shame on you)
8.1" voice controled "infotainment" system with Nav. (It's a damn truck not a soccer mom grocery getter)
Power tilt steering and pedals (sorry, I set it and forget it)
Spray on bed liner (as long as it's got a steel underlayment)
    40k sticker (eff NO)

Guess I'm not gonna get my $25.00 Amazon ecard :brianr:

I do see a few of these happening with the millennial draw to the mid size pickup. Inverter isn't powerful enough to be very useful, manuals are dying :(, big infotainment systems are in. A steel bed would kind of be a surprising change to me, but its very possible being that I think Toyota is the only ones to use composite. They would still offer a v6 gas engine right? That would be goofy not to I think, but I do see the obvious reach for high mpgs with the 10 speed transmission pairing.

It kind of makes me excited to see this list actually, in a few years I might not have been able to get what I wanted. 2.7 5 speed FTW!

I will never buy another Tacoma if they do away with the Manual Trans, I think that is a huge mistake on their part if they are planning it.

^ This. Drove manuals on and off for over 30 years and loved 'em. And when I saw my 11 DC OR with a manual on the dealers lot I jumped on it. After about a year my love of MTs faded away. I just don't feel like screwing around with stirring the gears anymore. And the new auto transmissions are so efficient, reliable, strong, and capable offroad there isn't any real need to own a manual anymore. Guess the upside is most of the current generation of shitbags probably can't figure out how to steal it. :)

Exactly, same story here. 40+ years of MTs, enough is enough.

< shrug > When I buy another high performance car it may have a manual. But never again in a slow truck.

The future of the Tacoma will be that of the Honda Ridgeline... It's going to be uni-body, FWD based, fuel efficient, no manual transmissions whatsoever, comfortable interior and an excellent highway cruiser. The new 2017 Honda Ridgeline has lots of cool features, but I still have a hard time accepting FWD based trucks...

I almost agree. I feel like the "mini OffRoad truck" section may be dominated by Ford and their Ranger pretty soon.
