I'm still waiting on my LED's high beem and fogs since November from the retrofit source. Now since I have not installed my HID's I feel I should return them.

    What do u guys think

I would still install them. Many people don't have the bouncing and they're working on a fix. It'll be taken care of.

On a side note, I'm almost certain the new grommets will fix it, as I've noticed the colder it is the less they shake. I assume this is because the rubber stiffens more with the colder air

After reading all these post I'm going to pass, for now, on the HID's and just get set of low, high and fog Piaa's.

I just want a nice kit that performs normally for when my truck comes. I guess I'll have to wait.

As promised, here is the video taken on a road by me, I drive on, to get to a friends house.

Video edited by my friend, not by me.

Video starts off a little slow but gets right into the shake around the 18 second point.

Cold has nothing to do with how much these shake. I've driven with these on days that the high during the day was in the mid 20's, and a low that night in the teens, and they shake like any other day.

Video was taken when it was 25 degrees out after a high of 40 that day.

How can many people not have the bouncing/shaking if they all have the same 5500K bulbs? Did they put different gaskets in the same bulbs?

Many people might not see it, might not notice it, might not have it bother them, but I'll throw out this challenge.

If you put the Morimoto Elite HID System in your 2016 Tacoma with the 5500K bulbs (with the gaskets I received that are currently on all the 5500K bulbs) and say they don't shake and vibrate like on the following video, come on over to my place, and we will put the GoPro on your windshield, and take a ride around my neck of the woods with your truck.

Bring your wife and if they don't shake, I'll grab my wife, and we'll take you out for some great food and drinks on us. If they do shake, you pay.

This system should perform with absolutely no issues. Hopefully for the people that notice it there will be a solution, or hopefully it just doesn't bother you.

But remember, if there are issues, and you are not happy, you should not have to dispute the transaction (like I had to) to get a refund plus return shipping.

    That's not customer service.

    Thanks

Also realize, if the truck was shaking as much as these lights shake, I think the fillings would fall out of your teeth. My truck rides pretty smooth over this road.

I have the same issue. Just as bad if not worse. Others have said they don't though. The cold was just an observation from my personal experience because I do have these installed on my truck.

I just watched the video a couple of times, granted I am still having my first cup of java, but I barely see the shake as you say and it is on a rough section of the road, but as I watched whenever the center of the light looked like it was flickering, I noticed the horizon line never moved with the same movement as the light center.
This would tell me to bulb is not moving, but the arc is moving between the electrodes. The horizon line was consistent with the movement of the vehicle suspension. Ive had factory HID's in a FX 35 and the horizon line would move with the bouncing of the suspension if on an uneven road, I dont have it anymore to do a comparison, maybe someone on here has one. This in my mind would think the bulbs need to be made with a shorter arc length to avoid the flicker. thats what I see.

I would say your assessment is pretty spot on.

"I noticed the horizon line never moved with the same movement as the light center." Exactly.

The horizon moves up and down with the movement of the truck. The light center bounces/shakes/vibrates (whatever you want to call it) rapidly back and forth/up and down over every bump.

As this is my first set of HID's I have nothing to compare them to. I just know its a issue I can't see dealing with, as once you notice it, you can't stop noticing it, driving with these at night.

You sound like you know a lot more about HID's than I do, and if your assessment of what the issue is, it sounds like new gaskets won't be solving this issue.

    Thanks

No I dont know a lot about HIDs, just from fitting hi/lo in my Harley and having them blind people in the daytime and have concluded Chinese brands dont last. Ive been a fleet mechanic/maintenance admin for over 30 years and have extensive experience when there was a design issue or a driver would complain about an issue, it seems I was the only one that would delve deep enough into an issue to find a conclusion. The problem in a fleet environment is if the problem isnt fixed they never let you hear the end of it, then all the drivers get together and fire off complaints to upper management.
I investigated German Philips HIDs but they dont make any retrofit kits, so nothing to replace a H11 bulbs. Im on the fence here and still may look at LED's but the factory LED's on the wifes Lexus dont have any depth to the light beam.

Mine doesn't have this shake at all! That would definitely annoy me.

I didn't do anything differently from the instructions and only used what was provided by TRS.

Is this lows and fogs, or highs? And if lows, what wattage, 35 or 55 watt?

I'm a bit torn between 35 and 55 watt. I want a lot of light to see wild life by the road, but I live in a super dark area and we do get snow and lots of fog, so I don't want to wash it all out with the 55 watt ones... possibly. Thoughts?

I totally understand peoples frustrations now. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones not experiencing this issue. Thanks for posting the video!

Personally I dont think hid fogs are the best IF the fog lights are used for fog lights not just more light output. I used to drive professionally and drove in tule fog at night for 6-7 hours at a time. Nothing worse than being blinded by your own lights. I would probably go with LED fogs in the lower wattage and lumen values

You make a good point. in the BMW's I've owned with factory HID's, whenever they fire up the do an auto level procedure. What this tells me is that they have some sort of gyro leveling system. It's possible these factory HID's all have some stabilization built into them to absorb bumps etc eliminating vibrations all together.

Has anyone ever tested these aftermarket HID's on a car with harder suspension?

My Infiniti SUV even had a adjustment dial on the dash to move the projector beam down when you loaded it down and the light beam raised. I doubt any of these HID kits we all are looking at can auto adjust, thats why factory OEMs are like $1000 or more.
