Just put a set of 285/75/16 on my rig. Really impressed with these tires in the short time I've had them. Can't wait to get them in the snow and off-road!

After running BFG AT's for 4 years I switched to to St Maxx's. I felt no difference in power, braking, MPG and ride, but they were both Load Range E's.

I have run 265/75 16's for almost two years now and love them. Last week I had them on a REALLY slick mud (6-8") on an up hill off chambered sloppy road, the tires are JUST about down to their wear bars and they still dug for traction and threw mud wonderfully. The only time I got stuck was about 10"of untouched snow covering a layer of ice on a fire road, instead of climbing a steeper section I slide off into a 3ft ditch. I was not aired down nor did I air down to get out, a buddy just drug me out. I have been extremely pleased with this tire, though I am one of the ones that are experiencing a slight pull to the right. I just received a set of STT Pros today and will be trying those. These will be the most aggressive tires I have run yet. If I cant live with the STT Pros on my dd I will be going back to St Maxx's.

With that being said, I am not a hardcore 'mudder' and do not wheel my truck. I do however take my truck in some deep mud and slick situations on my buddies 500 acre plot of fields and woods pulling a M101 army trailer scrounging for firewood. So thats pulling a 4500 lb (+/-) up/down some steep muddy roads and fields and they have been great. Plus driving through every situation the winters of the North-East has to offer.

This is just my 2 cents, take it with a grain of salt!

Anyone find and good prices on the 255/85/16? Pretty much see them as $250 per tire but the 17 version is $200.

I got mine mounted balanced and TPMS switched out for right at $900 at a local shop. I think we assume that Internet is always the best deal. Call some local shops and give them a shot.59cc43ff88ad527615b4b1b491443c33_7dfb3cb58b1c1ea16982217ed0a72d9010cab415.jpg

Have about 10,000 miles on the maxx tires and they perform well and are nearly bullet proof. Have run over 3 bottles hidden in tall grass....the bottles exploded into tiny pieces and sounded like gun shots....no tire damage.
I've fallen into some deep, muddy ruts and the tires just pull right out. They're great!

My 255/85/16's were $1035, mounted, balanced, and aligned through tire discounters. That comes out to $258/tire.

Ok that is about what I'm seeing. Called discount tire direct and they said the size was discontinued and don't have any in stock. Might just have to bump up to the 17" size as they are only $812 to my door.
