I think the most important part when comparing this fridge/freezer to the ARB is the fact that they both use the exact same Danfoss compressor. I find it pretty hard to justify the cost of the ARB model when these two basically have the same guts.

    From the report on equipt

"The Indel B is a portable fridge/ freezer run by a Danfoss compressor. Looking at the test data I would rank this fridge solidly next to the Engel and the ARB. Compressor control is not as good as the National Luna, but is better than the Whynter. Value and performance of this fridge makes it a good competitor for the ARB and Engel, but does not match the sheer power of the National Luna." GJ

For $1,470 the National Luna better be nicer! Haha

Haha i think as long as the end date doesn't suddenly appear a few days out, anyone on the fence will be fine.

And I'm mainly focused on the coming worldwide economic situation. A meltdown might not hold off for another year judging by events lately. So wants/needs need to be figured out, but then again a fridge /freezer would make it easier to travel out of my truck. :)

I looked over the info and didn't see how many amps it pulls... can we use this with the ac power outlet in the bed of the Gen 3 Taco?

I'm tired of buying ice every weekend for the various coolers I use.

It says 50 watts. So around 3.5-5amps DC depending on whether your truck is running or not. I would imagine it could draw higher amperage upon initial startup though.

Actually, unless I'm somehow reading these wrong, the charts on pgs 3-5 in the Equipt1 comparison study show that the Indel-B draws somewhere between 1.5 & 1.8 Amps. Both ARB & Indel-B recommend that you use your home's 110/220v AC power for initial cool down & temperature stabilization for 24 hours prior to your departure. As far as overall, general quality, the Indel-B actually scores slightly higher than the ARB in the comparison test.

In reading the Q&A section for the Waeco protective cover I found this tidbit of info:

My plan is to get the zipper closure cover listed below instead as it is an insulated protective jacket from Ironman4x4: Ice Cube Fridge 50L Insulated Bag IFRIDGE50 BAG $105.75

Even better. I was just looking at the main page that said 50w average draw. Which would be in the 3-5amp range depending on your DV voltage.

    Hey guys,

Although I'd love to move this forward earlier than the due date, I'm hesitant to do so as folks from the last group buy I held for ARB got screwed over (myself included) when we started the purchasing earlier than the original due date, and the GB ended early due to supplier issues. Unless I get EVERYONE who signed up to commit to buy early, we'll still have to wait until the 02/14/2016 due date. Sorry :(

Thanks again for doing this and if it counts. Im in for early if at all possible. That way I'm still delirious about spending more money and can do it quick before I have time to over think it. :D

Thanks for staying on top of this for me. I had really bad internet where I was, and I wasn't able to edit the first post for some reason. Much appreciated!

    It's not on purpose, I swear! :D

I don't know if anyone else had noticed it or not, but the price for the Waeco protective cover down at the bottom of the page in the "Products Discussed in this Thread" has gone up about 50% in the last few hours to the new price of $75.22. Oops, it changed again to $76.76.

Just trying to wrap my head around how big 50L is. Have any pics of it loaded with food, how many days worth of food..... Also do you pack your food cold/frozen at all? Seams like a stupid question but that's just how I pack food for elk camp and I just take it out the day before to thaw out. Thanks.

With the basket out it will hold 79-12oz aluminum cans, with the basket in it'll hold 70-12oz aluminum cans (there are 72 in 3 full cases). Here is a full review video by Equipt Expedition Outfitters' owner, Paul May. Here is a better product detail page & a comparison study between:
    • National Luna
    • Engel
    • Indel B
    • ARB
    • Whynter

Indel-B recommends that you use your home's 110/220v AC power for initial cool down & temperature stabilization for 24 hours prior to your departure.

72 cans! That's a lot of beer! So this won't sit very well in the middle backseat of a double cab will it?

It might... The outside measurements are: 23"L x 13.75"W x 21"H. It's going to take up that middle seat & would be an effective way to isolate 2 kids from each other in the back seat. That is, until they start throwing things at each other over it.
