We get the 2016 Tacoma in our shop next week (was supposed to be this week but Toyota had a delay in delivery) & we will go from there. We need time to get the prototypes done, so you won'ta be hearing much from us regarding the new products until they're actually ready to release...
Stay tuned! As you know, everything #Pelfreybilt is #worththewait, so #neversettle! :p

Having a spare is always important
Removing the gate is possible but less than ideal... It's not easy and it looks funny but not horrible, because you have to leave the spindle installed into the bumper! I saw someone post a photo just not sure which thread!!
Yes the factory spare works with both rear bumpers we make

It's @SixthSnail who runs his bumper without the gate! Maybe he can post his pix here since Tapatalk won't let me attach it!? If not PM him

..i'd not worry about the swingoutgate, just order it. you'll not notice added weight from the driver seat. you can carry two spare wheels, one on the gate and one under! you can wait to place the gate...for a while..just grease the spindle and cover it with a plastic bag and rubber bands until you can't wait any longer, then put the gate on...and leave it on! the HighClearance and Swing-Out gate are the perfect combo.IMG_2905.jpg

I probably missed it, but why the switch to square tubing for the swingout? Seems it would be quicker to fab up, might be stronger, however I'm sure the tube was strong enough for the job.
Square is a little on the bulky side, and to be honest a little of a turn-off. I still like it, but just not as much as when it was round tube. Sorry to be the one negative Nancy.

I was talking a the parts guy at cochrane Toyota here in Alberta Canada and he mentioned that you guys might be building aluminum hi-clearance rear bumper... Is here any truth beside this?

I asked the question before and I'm sure one of them could answer it too but they went to square tubing for strength, the tube didn't meet their expectations. I liked the tube for the swing out but would be pretty unhappy if it gave out.

When everything is on I'm looking at close to 200lbs just on the swingout between spare/fuel/hi lift. Weight adds up quick and ill take strength wherever I can get it

There is a video at the beginning of this thread somewhere that shows when it's loaded up the tube just can't handle the weight. It twists and shakes way to much.

I prefer the look of the square toob. I'd be on the fence if it was round. It looks clean and visually strong square toob.

As mentioned above, the twist we saw with the round tube was not up to snuff so we went to the rectangular. This slo-mo video is what made us decide to switch, you'll see why.

Any chance of you making a spare tire carrier swing out rack only with latch hidden behind it?

Mask the spindle on the bumper and the hub side on the gate. Mask threaded holes and studs. If you are using Bed Liner I would mask the mounting plates where they attach to the frame, just hit those with regular paint so it doesn't buildup too much.
