Lots of comments. Back to a reasonable solution. Number one....Do not let car wash clowns wet sand your truck. Chances are they will really screw up doing do. Number two as suggested once before...Take your truck to a good pro detailer. They are the guys who fix this kind of stuff. Get an estimate from the detailer and give it to the car wash owner. Number three... Insist that the car wash owner pay for the repair. Number four...If he will not pay, you will have to decide what further action you plan to take.

Whatever....do not allow the car wash clowns to wet sand your truck. If you need to too, suck it up and pay the detailer yourself. Consider it a lesson learned and move on.

You forgot to add something to Number four....... treat them with a lawsuit. Number five..... If that doesnt work than really file a lawsuit. Problem solved!! :yay::bananadance:

That's for the OP to decide. Filing a lawsuit can be a real pain in the butt that I personally would try my best to avoid. But then I'm an old guy who has learned a lot of things the hard way.

You're obviously an instigator, which is totally your right, but pick your battles man.

Do you not clean your truck? I bet you clean your house, how do you rationalize that one? Some people enjoy taking pride and care in their belongings. This issue isn't only about aesthetics, you're discounting the objective impact paint damage has on value. This guy bought a $35k truck. It's in his best interest to keep it free of scratches and paint damage so that it stays as close to $35k as possible.

Personally speaking I'd say your senseless trolling of CAM37 is how you rationalize being lazy and not caring about paint maintenance. I think you objectively realize there's nothing wrong with this guy's post. Also you seem to be going pretty far out of your way to do this since you don't even own a 3rd Gen. Pound your chest all you'd like about real men buying trucks to do manly things like hauling cement and logs, but I don't think it's valid around here. A Tacoma, let alone a 2016 double cab black trd sport, is a terrible work truck. It's not a work truck actually. And I doubt that's why he bought it. So if he wants to ask our opinion on how to fix paint damage, let us help him in peace.

Dirt ? I don't drive on dirt roads. Will it get some pollen and dust on it ? Sure. Will it get dirty on wet roads ? Sure. But I'll wash it again and again it will look beautiful and reflect like not other color.

Ps. A wash takes about 30 minutes. A full detail with r/o buffer, a few passes with a combo of pads and polishes, using 303 on the trim, and detailing the interior takes 8 hours... that's a once a year job.

I'm only 19 and I'm starting to think that I'm really old. Depending on repair cost (if it's a lot) I would file a lawsuit, might be a pain but you will get the gratitude of not spending any of your earned cash from your job.

I don't want to wash my truck over and over :(, some of us has a busy life. Even though black is pretty to see after it's clean its real hard to keep it clean after a while. My truck stays shinning after 2-4 weeks from a 3 hour exterior job. Interior takes 2 hours but I usually do it every 2-4 months.

I'm debating a 19 y/o kid over the pros and cons of black paint. Oh dear Lord, you don't know shit about anything yet. You certainly don't know anything about ME and if I enjoy, and have time for, keeping my truck looking great.

Here's what I say about silver vehicles: Looks like they forgot to paint them at the factory.

See... you like your color for your reasons, I like my color for my reasons. How about if you let me worry about keeping my black truck looking good and I'll let you enjoy not washing yours very often. Deal ?

You just exploded, look who is the mature one in this conversation. And I didn't saying anything about know you, I'm just saying something my dad said.

P.S. I know shit about this because my dad told me.

My truck exterior gets cleaned from time to time. Usually when it really needs it. It cleans up nice.

Exploded ? LOL... I couldn't be more calm. Another thing you don't know. So now you're repeating what Dad said... shows you don't know anything. 19 years old. I have a 20 year old son, fire fighter in the Air Force and I'll tell you what I tell him. Time to start thinking for yourself.
You didn't say anything about knowing me, sure... but all during the conversation you are acting like maintaining a black vehicle is SO much work and SO much trouble, why would anyone want to do that ?! You're making assumptions. Wrong ones.

Do not let them wet sand. If they want to pay for a professional to wet sand, that's another story. But I'd be doing my own research on that professional, as well

If it were me, I'd educate myself on defect removal on a forum like Autogeek and then contemplate my next move. Likely- obtaining a DA and compounds/polishes and doing it myself. Or finding a professional to do it for me.

You can try to get compensation from the car wash, but to be honest I wouldn't waste your time doing that.

Just to let you know exploded = Mad, and don't you lie to me. This and your last comment sounded like you were annoyed. Age might have something to do with some knowledge but when it comes to vehicles I know a lot, but I'm still learning. I'm just saying black is the hardest color to keep clean. Anyways I'm not going to talk about this pointless conversation about paint and a pretty reflection on a vehicle, just remember it's for learning on this site.

I wouldn't lie to you, Sonny... not mad at all. In fact, I was laughing at most of that conversation. Come back anytime you want to debate me about the pros and cons of black paint.

Thank the Lord for the "Ignore" feature on this site. Sounds like a hen house on this thread. Or use to till I vaporized a certain individual.
