This is a really good looking bumper! How much work is it to trim that plastic under the headlights?

I agree 100%. One of the big reasons I never bought the 2nd gen (previous truck was a 2004 Tacoma) was it irritated me that the mpg was not any better than many full size trucks. The highway mpg on the 2016 at 70-75 is really disappointing. Glad I do 95% of my driving in town.

I've owned like 13 or 14 trucks I don't know I lose track. Anyway the Tacoma is by far my favorite and all I plan on owning moving forward.

Yes they are. honestly, they are really nice. I'm not a fan of many AT tires, these are so far one of my favorites. I wasn't a fan of their older ones but these are a huge improvement.

We don't want to put a release date on it. We are going to work on getting it into the production line and once we have a firm idea we will release it.

We are going to be putting it into production, we just don't want to get into a situation like we did with the 2010 4runner bumper where we over promissed and under delivered. We want to do the opposite this time.

Actually one of the easiest to trim, I walked away for a few minutes and came back and my lead fabricator already had it trimmed. The line is already there just trim it.

I have to agree the 2005-2015 is one of my favorite trucks. The mileage IMO is not a huge improvement over anything else I've driven.

No cost yet but it should be in line with the rest of our bumpers.

Thanks Gadget, I was just getting use to this truck. Even with 35's it still feels fine but I still felt like it was slower than the previous generation. But when I saw this video I was shocked it even got beat by the 1st gen. That's pretty bad.

Going from the 2004 to the 2016 I am not surprised at all the 2004 was quicker 0 to 60. I would bet a months salary though the 2016 would be significantly faster 60 to 90.

That 1st Gen was an MT, and it didn't look like they did an abusive neutral drop on the 3rd Gen AT. I would really like to see a retest with MT vs MT to see if the result is different.

I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember the auto 95.5-2004 being a RCH faster than the manual on test? I had an auto and thought it was pretty quick.

Yeah, you may be right for the 1st Gen...I really don't know (shrug), have to check on that.

For the 3rd gen, I am curious to see if the MT is faster based on what I am seeing/reading around here. (1) the differences in power delivery due to more beneficial gearing (MT better), (2) ability to get around Toyota's Nonlinear Throttle control (reduces initial power when you jam the throttle down) by doing a proper lauch (rev'd to XXXX RPM and drop clutch), (3) that both the max HP and torque power-to-weight ratio should be in the 3rd Gen's favor (~3300 lbs @ 190hp/220 lb-ft vs ~4500 lbs @ 278hp/265 lb-ft), and (4) the 2GR dyno of a TRD OR 6MT posted in another thread showed the power down low was ample. Based on all those reasons, I think(?) a 3rd Gen MT has the potential to do better...I am mystified the AT seemed that slow. I really don't know shit, but just a guess based on what I am seeing. I am personally blaming the AT and TFL's launch until I find a better culprit :)

JDEMELLO, Thanks for the review and all the other information. I just got a gen III TRD DC off road this Sunday and after 600 miles I’m accepting that it was designed to work in front of a transmission with many ratios to allow it to spin for power and turn higher gears down low for economy with with a lot of shifting and hunting which will prove to be normal and probably will be as bullet proof as previous gens. Here’s hoping. Meanwhile I’m just going to put my foot in it and enjoy the ride and ignore all hunting and shifting.
    :fingerscrossed: :D

OK folks,, I took advange of the letter from my dealership.. offering me 48 hr test drive without commit any paper deals.. along with an oil change for my taco. SO I got a 16 taco AC long box with auto.SR5 for 48 hrs.
Here what my feelings are: the refreshen look on the outside looks good, only part is the fat lip on front. it may grow on me. the tires are Hanook instead of dunflops. GOOD change! Inside, nice change from old days looks.. love the new style air vents. noticed no hanger on driver side.. and less compartments there also. I like the safety brake handle sits now. fit and finish is good.
The power and tranny which I am more concern than nick pick on little things like some folks on here. The power is smooth..gives plenty of snaps. brake is about the same as 14.. when it wet,, more touchy. no lags come gaining speed.
Here the thing that I gripe about and this truck already got 420 miles on it already.. so its partial broken in. When using the ECT control,, works fine on FLAT roads( like highway with very little hills), comes to secondary roads and big hills, it will shift abit. Runing WITHOUT ECT,, runs like a charm and smoother. going 65mph the rpm hangs around 15/16 while the ECT active, the rpm hits near 2000. sometimes near 2800 rpm going on hills..
Yup a sight howl,, the wishbone needs plugging.. there is a issue on it on this fourm. The sight vibe which coming from tranny,, there is a topic on this.. way I felt it,, its not that bad. but only I am not wild is the way the tranny and engine mated.
so I am going to wait until June before I buy a new taco or something else. or keep my 14 taco until shit to bed.
