Even the 4Runner is pretty ridiculous. Toyota has lost the art of front end design, period. The GMC Canyon's front end looks pure truck..

Dude, you're comparing it to a gen 1 Tacoma. That is like comparing an EcoBoost to a 1999 Ford Ranger lol.

Tacoma is rated 23 highway, Tundra 17 mpg highway. That is like 35% difference. Pretty significant if you ask me.

But it can't get to the back roads I hunt because the wheelbase is too wide and long. The tacoma holds all I have and need.

Thanks man...I really had a burning question in my head over whether a bigger truck with a bigger engine and softer suspension would ride faster and smoother on the interstate than a smaller truck with a smaller engine and stiffer suspension. Thanks for clearing that up! And thanks for the bonus info about the truck built specifically for off-road use being better in severe off-road conditions. Never would have guessed that one either! Good work!

I fully realize your being a smart az but I do have the Tundra Pro which does up the off road capability somewhat. It has remote reservoir shocks, mild lift, special front coils, TRD dual exhaust and air filter. The difference in fuel mileage for me is roughly 3 mpg. As far as taking the Tacoma off road, I wouldn't take it ($37k) anywhere I wouldn't take my Pro which by the way can hold my Polaris Razor 900 trail in the back if I really want to go wheeling. I can also pull my 8000# camper easy with the Tundra. The difference in price between the Tacoma and the Tundra was 5K.

What really needs to happen to the Tacoma is to lower 6th gear. Only 4:30 gear ratio equipped Tacomas should be sold in mountainous areas.

I would love to have a Tundra except:

    1. would not fit in my garage
    2. extra $5 grand for the same features as my sport (about 100 bucks/month)
    3. parking in downtown area would be a nightmare around here.
    4. taxes/property taxes each year would be higher
    5. V-8 is overkill for my needs
    6. gas mileage...more $$ again

that's enough...guess I'll be happy with my taco.

I think it just needs some balls. Like that GM 4.3L. Now that's a truck engine. And it, in a full size, does as well as the tacoma 3.5.

I absolutely love my Tundra over my tacoma. With that said, not everyone needs a full size and for them, the obvious choice is the tacoma.

A place void of life, mosquitoes and Black floes don;t count, no trees, hot as hell in the summer and cold s a witches teat in the winter. Canada has lots of it. Just get a map and anything North of the Provinces where there aer no towns and you are near. A Japanese car company builds an outdated truck, and named it after the above.

I really like the Tundra but I don't need a full size truck. The Tacoma fits in parking areas with ease and is all the size I need. Would love the Tundra engine in the Tacoma however....

I fully agree! I had a '12 TRD Tundra. It was a great truck but more vehicle than I needed. A recent circumstance caused me to decide to trade (banged up the driver's side). I am "anal" to a fault and didn't want the truck knowing it was repaired. Decided to scale down to the Tacoma. It meets my needs better than the Tundra-i.e.-much better mpg (not much of a consideration with gas prices south of $2.00 but wait until they go back up to the $3.50-$4.00 range), easier to get in/out of my garage (single doors), and a little easier to get in and out. The Tundra, however, had better visibility (IMO) than my new Tacoma as the hood seemed to be shorter and sloped downward. But, as viking 15 posted, the Tundra and Tacoma are designed for basically different markets and comparing them is somewhat irrelevant. I heard that same sh!t when I bought my Harley Dyna Lowrider from the Ultra Classic owners. My response to them was "you ride what you like and I'll ride what I like."

And I will say that I will say with 100% confidence the F-150 is twice the truck of the Tundra, hands down. :yay:

IMO the Tacoma is basically a SUV with a bed, which is exactly what a lot of people are looking for. See many companies running Tundra fleets? Me either...

Gorgeous Tundra, except for it needs to be a crew cab. The access cabs are ugly on the side.
The Inferno interior and exterior is fucking awesome tho!
I wish they made that interior for the Tacoma TRD Pro because I want it in my Sport.

I often wish I looked for an '05-'06 Tundra Limited double cab with the TRD Off Road package. Slightly larger than my DCLB Tacoma, which to me makes it the perfect size. The later 4.7s had decent power and very few reliability issues with the truck itself.

Never happen. People normal know it has plenty of power as is. The small penis brigade will have to buy a Raptor.

Yeah the Tacoma is the perfect truck for me. It hauls what I need to the few times a year I need it to without complaint. It is stone reliable and I've repeatedly gotten 25-26 mpg hwy with the v6 here in Florida. The Tacoma loves to rev.. If anything, its better accelerating at speed than from a stop. All this for ~29k for what I paid. If you feel the need to blow through mountain roads at 80mph, well, we have different driving styles as well.

I feel that I really don't need the towing capability of the Tundra. Even so, TFL did a run where the Tacoma got better gas mileage towing an equal load with a new Tundra.. Does it tow more? Yes. Will I use that capability? No. It honestly needs some refinement versus domestic offerings at the prices it ventures into. I feel like it was made by a team of Japanese people that were just familiar with American stereotypes. The 5.7L is cantankerous, the engine needs and update, the interior is filled with plastic, and what's with the toy steering wheel? I really didn't care for the Tundra. I feel the Tacoma is a better product all around.

It rides smooth, revs smooth, is reliable, and is every bit a truck within its listed capabilities. To each his own.
