Words of wisdom. Some places I hunt before I shift the drive configuration and go down the trail I take a deep a breath and say OK here we go...

Been down a lot worse but usually have my hands too full to take a picture LOL. Getting too old for that crap. Nah.... :p Shoot too many grouse where everyone else is afraid to tread. Thank you Toyota! Now if only I could find my radio antenna that broke off someplace down this "road".

Eastern Tn. is nice as long as you're in the mountains. The whole Western NC, Eastern Tn. and corner of Va. is a gem IMO. In the summer lots of Brevard County Fl. license plates running around Western NC for a reason, they can afford to be there in the summer and Fl. in the winter.

Marty posted a picture of a dog cancer fundraiser a couple of weeks ago that he said was in Highlands which I am going to assume is Highlands, NC. It is a high rent district that many from Atlanta escape to because of the lower temps in the summer and lower humidity. Heck of a haul from SC and where he is. Many bikers take the roads up there from Atlanta so it is a good market analysis believe it or not. Heck it is even a hell of a drive from Asheville, NC.

Marty I can't believe how many miles you put on your rig every year in an effort to rescue. My Ex used to complain that I was just like her father, likely why she married me.. Always considered it a compliment even though that was likely not her intend. My FIL and I remained best friends even after the divorce until he passed away, he was the Area 1 rescue coordinator for the Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retriever in the NE and Middle Atlantic States. You and he are cut from the same cloth. I ended up finish raising his grandchildren and realize that also had an impact, but we always did think a lot alike. Marty your actions speak louder than any words could is what I'm trying to say. And thank you.

I miss the South sometimes, OK a lot of of times. It isn't the weather, it is the people.

I've been down to the Tail Of The Dragon in Deals Gap, NC three times when the MINI Coopers have their annual nation-wide get together down there. It's gorgeous down there in the mountains with the TVA dams and large lakes. And who doesn't love a road that has 318 curves in 11 miles ? Built for MINI Coopers ! :)

 Morning all. 23°F with a little bit of wind making it feel like 14°F. Snow is gone below 2000'-3000' again. Weird Winter ... hope ya'll along the east coast and south are staying warm; that is far below normal for ya'll ... but then what is normal in the weather anymore? o_O

If the weather guesses are correct things are going to get much worse come Friday. I think you folks will have it worse than we will in Sunny Southern Maryland.

Welcome to TW! Lots of good folks here, very laid back. I spent a little time at Aransas Pass at NS Ingleside a little to the north of Corpus a few years back, great people and good food but the heat took a little getting use to!

Welcome deergetr! I glad you joined. I WAS the junior member of this 50+ group. Now you are IT!

    Rules:
You take first prize if you have the coldest, the warmest or the windiest local weather.
Bonus points if you upload a nice pic to prove it.
Grand prize is if you have saved a dog's life today.

This is the thread you want to be in, if you don't want to read about another kid waiting for his next paycheck so he can buy a set of shiny new wheels :)

All kidding aside. This group is fantastic if you want a little insight on all things and not just one thing... (a damn truck)

Good morning all! Warming up here may hit 20 today which means it has been snowing. Got a ring flash for my macro lens and been trying to do snowflake pictures. Finding out it is one of the hardest things I've tried to do with the camera.

Sounds and looks like the East Coast is now getting the cold and snow to follow. Yeah never understood why TP, bread and milk fly off the shelves right before a storm hits to the point that the store runs out. Hoarders!? I like the ham idea, and bacon of course!

Well first you drill a hole in the ice...... ;)
