Yes, everyone knows this. But it's fun to dream.

I'm reading some Pittsburgher hate here. :boink::D

Shit. I commute in and out of the city every day. If the wind changes direction unexpectedly, traffic on the parkway comes to a screeching halt. When a snowflake falls, you'd think it was the first sign of the apocalypse.

However, Pittsburgh isn't bad at all compared to other cities nearby. I've sat in rush hour traffic in Baltimore, Philly, and DC within the past six months. They make Pittsburgh seem like a well oiled machine.

anything more than 3" is usually enough to shut down most of the city and the base lol...but we normally get freezing rain and sleet before snow which turns everything into a hockey rink. we've had airplanes covered in 1/2"+ of ice before, had to bring it inside to thaw it out lol

Ugh. Never good. I'm really praying for a big snow for my 3yo. He'd lose his mind and we'd have a blast in it.

Well , I wish us good snow!

Last year was not bad here. We never had a big snow. But lots of smaller to decent ones. Problem was it was just to damn cold to stay outside for long.

Was cold. That's for sure. I can handle the cold pretty well but bundling up a little one sure it challenging.
The woods skiing here was the best it has ever been. My son and I had great times romping through the woods.
Not sure what kind of activity you like to do with him. I have a sweet set up for my guy with a chariot stroller and skis.
Best $ I have spent for him and I.

Yeah, I like the cold and can deal with it pretty good. But you're right, I'm always worried about the kids being cold. I have a 10yo boy and a 10 month old boy too. So the two older ones are usually up for anything in the snow. LOL.

What is this stroller you speak of?

    Just what I witness daily

Common sense is lacking here in the burgh, it's not the volume of traffic that causes backups... it's the lack of smarts. Going slow in left or middle lane. Merging and blocking a lane, instead of going with the flow and merging when there's an actual hole to do so.

Miami has 5 lanes in ea direction... bumper to bumper... they go the speed limit

This has somehow turned into the Pittsburgh traffic thread...

Anyway, I disagree. Sure it's partly drivers fault when traffic sucks due to negligent driving. But that's everywhere. Pittsburgh's and it's surrounding areas have an old and inefficient road system. It's probably one of the most inefficient road systems around. Not only inefficient, but confusing. Even for someone who lives here.

Can't really compare a 5 lane highway in Miami to our parkway. Apples and oranges. Driving on 79 is usually just fine.

They're calling for 12"-16" from friday through sunday where I live. Unfortunately, we live in the country, so no power means no water or heat (and we WILL lose power). Its okay though, I have a generator that can run the well pump and parts of the rest of the house, but not the hot water heater. We also have a propane fireplace, so heat in the living room at least. But it should be fun, never had the Subaru in the snow before so looking forward to trying her out!!

The weather guys can't make up their minds about totals for that storm around here. Over the last couple of days they've called for everything from 3 inches to over a foot and they're still arguing about it, lol. It'll all depend on where the cold front from Canada settles, I guess.

Damn. Yeah no power sucks. That's the one thing that sucks to live without. I have a cabin up north that I try yo frequent as much as I can . Well water, so no power = no water. Feel free to post up pics of the snow! I'll just have to live through others with this storm. LOL.

From what I understand about weather is you can't predict more than a day or 2 to what will actually happen. Just way too many factors. I'm hoping for a direct hit! :D

Look into getting a connection for your circuit breaker. You can just plug you generator into is then run specific items.... pump, furnace, a/c, hot water tank, stove, fridge, etc...

My brother had this done. Awesome

Same here. This winter's been lousy for snow so far; we've only got about 10-12 inches on the ground. Lame-o
