I am curious to know if anyone has installed a Bedrug on your 2016 Tacoma (pics)?

The part number provided by Bedrug for the 2016 is: BRY13DCK

I noticed that this is the same part number for the Gen2 Tacoma. Does it fit the same? Any issues?

    Thanks in advance!

I just had the full BedRug installed in my 2016 Tacoma Long Box and it is coming out!

The fit over the new tailgate is poor to say the least and it leaves an approximate 2 inch gap between the top of the BedRug and the top of the front bulkhead.

I can live with the gap in the front but not the tailgate fitment issues, as well there are some minor gaps along the sides which are a a little annoying.

The tailgate seems to have excess material and does not secure under the top tailgate lip very well, it will snag and catch on everthing.

The licensed BedRug Dealer that did the install said they were not happy with the fit either and totally agreed that it needed to come out.

The weird thing is that the part number for the 2016 and the 2nd. Gens. is the same even though there are changes between the two boxes.

So, if you want a BedRug for a 2016 that fits snugly like it should I would hold off until they sort this out, if your OK with a less that perfect fit, go for it.

There was a post on one of the threads where a user posted the specs for the beds. They definitely are different. Not sure how they can used the same part numbe for a 16. The bed is like 2" deeper. The bottom surface is pretty close from what I remember but not the same

That is the milion dollar question , I have a call and a email into BedRug so we will see what they have to say.

The place I purchased it from is also going to call the BedRug Rep to see what he says, they also took a bunch of pictures which they fired off to him.

In the meantime I would not recommend purchasing the BedRug to any of my friends for the 2016 Tacoma until they sort this out.

Some times manufactures roll over products to the next model year without realizing there is a body change. Usually it's the distributor who's computers or a moronic employee make these errors.

I get this a lot at work when I have accessories to install. Find they don't fit the new body styles and realize they are the same pets for the older body style and older model year.

What gets real crazy is when manufactures have 2 of the same model vehicles in the same year but one is a new body style (early release) they usually list them as like a 2016.5 in the aftermarket world. The manufactures usually add something to the older model to differentiate (Silverado classic, rogue select...ect) super annoying when you have retarded sales people who should know this stuff just tell you oh I need this for that and we end up ordering the wrong stuff because they gave us the wrong info

image.jpg I purchased just the bedrug for the tailgate and it really is short (see pic). I know the bed is now deeper but i heard the tailgate rug was short even on a Gen2 taco so the 2016 makes it even worse cause of the added depth. Luckily this was only $50.

I have the rubber mat in the bed and the bedrug tailgate cover. Love it. FWIW, it is supposed to go under the lip of the tailgate cap, not over it...

Mine was installed under the lip of the tailgate and it does not fit very well, almost like it is too thick to go under the lip.

    All coming out on Thursday...

Here are some pictures of how the BedRug fits in my 2016 Tacoma Long Box.

    Definitely not a custom fit!

The BedRug Authorized installer is not happy either and is taking it out and sending it back.

The pictures don't tell the whole story, there is quite a hump in the middle where it does not lay flat and it does not come right up to the top of the rear bulkhead, but the biggest problem is the fit over the tailgate which is way off.

Call into BedRug by the retailer, who has installed literally hundreds of these, and I have called them myself has well.

If BedRug is not going to come out with a better fit I am probably going to do exactly what you have done.

My buddy has the Toyota OEM mat and he is really happy with it.

Just hoping BedRug figures it out because I really like the product.

    Thanks for that Mason04,

I am not the OP but that is certainly a clean install, I am going to have a chat with the supplier again before they take it out, maybe it just needs to be tweeked.

I will have a look to see if they installed the spacers on the tailgate because when we were looking at it I don'the recall seeing any.

    Thanks again!

I'll get a shot next time I'm outside. FWIW, mine is tucked under the tailgate cap, like this shot:
