Stock Dueler H/T tire life/mileage?

I did a quick search and didn't find anything that was related to stock Dueler H/T tire life....

What kind of tire life are you guys getting out of your stock Dueler H/T's?

Mine have 21,000 miles and about 1/4" (approx) tread on them. They're definately starting to get 'thin & slippy' in the wet. I actually aired down my tires to help....but then rotated them and forgot to air them down in the rear. I've been trying to be light on the gas to prevent them from slipping (upon take-off in wet - especially when the roads are just damp).

Yesterday, it really opened my eyes to just how bad these tires are getting (atleast, I'm assuming its the tires). A busy intersection that I visit everyday. It's like threading a needle to make a left turn sometimes when traffic is heavy. Tires spun like crazy - had to let off. Then turned and got on the gas again just a bit (had to!!) and the ass-end went around on me. Never had that happen before in this truck. I saved it....but damn.... Even driving mildly to the store later on, it got tail happy just making regular slow turns.

I don't wanna change these things yet..... but I'm hoping this winter isn't a disaster or I will be changing these things earlier than I'd like. I'd definately replace them before next winter.

What have you guys been getting out of these things?

 

I've got 48,000 on mine, plenty of tread left (it helps that I'm in AZ and it doesn't rain here much).

 

48K on your stock tires? Holy crap..... do you float on air?

I just checked my air pressure and its at 29psi. I don't wanna go lower than that. Perhaps the roadways were just damp and slick with all the oils/residue. I don't know.... we'll see how the winter goes. If I have to, add 200lbs to the bed. I won't hesitate to get some new shoes if I have to.

I drive sensibly most of the time, occasionally a little faster. Also done some wheelin' (prerunner style) with them. Last time this subject came up on here a few people had got 50k out of their Duellers - maybe you drive in a 'spiritted' manner?!

 

Always over 50k on the Duellers I've owned on previous trucks. 25k on mine now and they still look like new. I usually run them a little harder than spec - 35 lbs in the back and 32 in the front

 

Are we still talking about the same tires - Dueler H/T's? The stock tires that come on the trucks when they're new? These tires are more car-like.

I had a set of Dueler A/T's on my previous tacoma that just about lasted 40K or more (I sold the truck).

 

Yes, Dueller H/Ts, the OEM tire. Very car-like, as was proven when I went wheeling with them!

 

I replaced mine before they were worn out, but based on the tread wear at the time, it looked like they would have lasted me about 40K miles.

 

I guess they could last up to 40K...... I'm just not sure I wanna deal with their 'wet' performance for another 2.5 years (took 2.5 years to put 21,000 miles on my truck).

 

I got 30K exactly, at spec 29-30 psi (ran 35 for a time, but they wore down the center) Were near or even to wear bars, 2-3/32's. ok for a couple more K's in dry summer, but were getting ugly in the rain and slippy on the gravel roads.

Replaced a few weeks back w/ Kumho KPL 51's, also an H/T, but A rated, 200 lbs more max load, nearly double the treadwear rating, oh and for just over $100 online. Also doesnt chuck pebbles on gravel like the Duelers did.
